Enjoy an evening of music on Morgan Lake

LA GRANDE — Music will once again
drift across Morgan Lake on the evening
of Saturday, July 23.
This is the fourth or fifth year for
Music on the Lake — also called the
Morgan Lake Regatta — but it is the first
event since 2019, said Chris Gianan-
drea, recreation planner with La Grande
Parks and Recreation, which organizes
the event.
Brian Mandella will provide the live
tunes from 6-8 p.m.
The audience can either listen from the
shore, or fl oat on the lake in a non-
motorized craft.
“A lot of people like to paddle board up
there,” Gianandrea said.
Attendance is free for this outdoor
concert.
“It’s a little diff erent atmosphere,” he
said. “Just show up and enjoy the music.”
MOONLIGHT SOFTBALL
The regatta isn’t the only activity that is
coming back this summer.
The Moonlight Softball Tournament
is set for Aug. 5-7, and teams need to reg-
ister by July 27.

All concerts are 6-8 p.m. at Riverside
Park in La Grande.

The last one was held in 2018. La
Grande Parks and Rec has taken over this
event, which was previously organized by
the La Grande Optimist Club.
“At one point there was up to 40 teams
and they play all night,” Gianandrea said.
Team members must be 18 and older.
Entry is $350 per team, and onsite camp-
ing is available for an extra $25.
The games will be played at Pioneer
Park, 501 Palmer Ave.

MUSIC AND MOVIES
MOONLIGHT BIKE RIDE
The Moonlight Bike Ride is set for Fri-
day, Aug. 12, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
This event is free; helmets and lights
are required.
La Grande Parks and Rec are also
hosting movies in Pioneer Park and con-
certs at Riverside Park.
The next movie, “Raya and the Last
Dragon,” shows July 29 at 9 p.m. The last
one is set for Aug. 19 at 8 p.m., featuring
“Detective Pikachu.”
Concerts are held Thursdays, 6-8 p.m.
