• PENDLETON — A regular
board meeting of the InterMoun-
tain Education Service District
will be held Wednesday, June 15.
The meeting begins at 4 p.m. at the
IMESD, 2001 SW Nye Ave., Pend-
leton. The IMESD oversees a number
of school districts in Northeastern
Oregon, including the districts in
Union County.

Blood drive held June 14-15
LA GRANDE — Giving blood
saves lives. The community has
another opportunity to contribute at
an American Red Cross blood drive
on Tuesday and Wednesday, June
14-15, at the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, 1802 Gekeler Lane,
La Grande. The hours are noon to
6 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
on Wednesday.

12:30 a.m. — La Grande police received a complaint about a
loud party on the 1600 block of Seventh Street. Officers responded
and counseled the subjects.
3:06 a.m. — A caller reported possible gunshots on the 1700
block of Adams Avenue, La Grande. Police responded and took a
report.
5:02 a.m. — A caller reported an attempted burglary at a res-
idence on the 2900 block of Second Street, La Grande. Officers
responded and will follow up.
11:15 a.m. — La Grande police received a complaint about
harassment on the 300 block of Fourth Street. Officers responded
and trespassed one person.
3:59 p.m. — La Grande police responded to the 1300 block of
Cherry Street on a report of a disturbance and separated the parties.
4:18 p.m. — La Grande police responded to the 1900 block
of Adams Avenue on a report of a disturbance. Officers took a
report.
8:43 p.m. — Union County Sheriff’s Office received a report
of a fight at East Fir and North Gale streets, Union. Deputies
responded and took information.
10:28 p.m. — A caller reported an assault on the 2000 block
of Gekeler Lane, La Grande. An officer responded, took informa-
tion and provided options.
11:01 p.m. — La Grande police responded to The Hideout
Saloon, 219 Fir St., on a report of a disturbance. Police arrested
Bradley Robert Robert, 40, for trespassing and carrying a con-
cealed weapon.

Doris Robertson, 92, formerly
of La Grande, died May 26,
2022, in Sweet Home, Oregon.
A service will begin at 11 a.m.
Thursday, June 16, at the Island
City Cemetery. Arrangements
are entrusted to Daniels-Knopp
Funeral, Cremation & Life
Celebration Center in La Grande.
Doris Jean was born in
Portland, the daughter and first
child of James Thomas and Mae
Annie (Greenwalt) Mears. She was raised and educated
in Portland and later married Herbert Huskey. Together
they had four children: Judith, Randy, Samuel and Julye.
This marriage later ended in divorce. Doris met Robert
Leslie Robertson and they married on Sept. 11, 1962, in
Stevenson, Washington. Robert’s son, Rob, joined the
family, and Doris and Robert added Susan and Robin.
They moved in 1972 to La Grande, where Doris
worked briefly for the Royal Motor Inn. She was
always active in Bible study groups and churches. In La
Grande it was the New Life Center and Living Waters
Worship Center. After the death of her husband in 2008
she moved with her daughter to Pendleton where she
was part of the Faith Center. They moved to Lebanon
in 2018 and finally Sweet Home, where she remained
until her death.
Surviving relatives include her children, Judith
McKibben of Gun Barrel, Texas, Randy Huskey of
Estacada, Julye Robertson of Salem, Susan Chamberlain
of Pendleton and Robin Callaham of Sweet Home; 17
grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald and David
Mears of Salem; sister, Janet Leininger of Portland; and
other relatives.
Besides her parents and her two husbands she was
preceded in death by her sons, Samuel Huskey and Rob
Robertson, and a brother, James Mears.
Contributions in memory of Doris J. Robertson may
be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
September 9, 1950 - May 29, 2022
Dale Edward Burrell, 71,
of Imnaha, Oregon, died
Sunday, May 29, 2022, at
Wallowa Memorial Hospital in
Enterprise after a long illness.
Dale was born Sept. 9,
1950, to William and Myrtle
Burrell in Willits, California.
They moved to Cloverdale,
California, when he was young.
He graduated from Cloverdale
High School in 1968. He was
on the Cloverdale Eagles football team known as the
“Fearless Fifteen.”
On Sept. 10, 1968, Dale entered the U.S. Navy
during the Vietnam War and was an E5 fireman in
damage control. He was deployed on the USS Bon
Homme Richard CVA 31 and the USS Ranger CVA 61.
He was honorably discharged in 1972 and spent two
years in the naval reserve.
In 1976, Dale married Linda (Nimmo) and they
moved to Elgin, Oregon, where he worked for the Boise
Cascade Corporation’s Elgin Studmill for 35 years and
retired as their head saw filer. In 1987, Dale and Linda
bought land at Imnaha and gradually built a home
with the help of Jim and Jeff Hubbard. They retired to
Imnaha in 2011.
Dale loved hunting and fishing and was an avid
gardener. He was well known for the delicious
cantaloupe he grew every year and gave to friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, William
and Myrtle, and brother, Jerry. He is survived by his
wife, Linda, of 45 years; daughter, Jenny of Bend;
brother, Robert of Elgin; sister-in-law, Sue of Boise;
nephew, Jake of Walla Walla; and nieces, Kim of Boise
and Sheri of Shelter Cove, California. He also had three
great-nephews and one great-niece. There will not be a
service, as per his request.

PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT
1:35 a.m. — A caller on the 2700 block of Island Avenue, La
Grande, reported an assault. An officer responded but the subject
had left.
4:09 a.m. — A resident on the 900 block of C Avenue, La Grande,
asked police for an extra patrol due to suspicious noises. Officers
responded and provided the patrol.
8:16 a.m. — La Grande police received a call about an assault on
the 2700 block of Island Avenue. Officers responded. The situation
did not rise to a level of mandatory arrest.
11:17 a.m. — La Grande police responded to 26th Street and
Mulholland Drive on a report of a domestic disturbance. The par-
ties involved separated.
1:15 p.m. — Local law enforcement responded to Walmart,
11619 Island Ave., Island City, on a call about a vehicle theft. Union
County sheriff’s deputies arrested Wanda Jean Harris, 47, for unau-
thorized entry into a vehicle and vehicle theft.
4:02 p.m. — Union County Sheriff’s Office received a report of
theft at Flying J Travel Center, 63276 Highway 203, La Grande. A
deputy made contact and explained options.
4:04 p.m. — Emergency services responded to Second Street
and Adams Avenue, La Grande, on a report of a vehicle crash.
Police took a report.
7:54 p.m. — La Grande police responded to the 1000 block of
Jackson Avenue on a report of a disturbance. Police counseled the
parties.
8:05 p.m. — A caller reported possible gunshots on the 1900
block of Penn Avenue, La Grande. Police will provide extra patrols.

Deanna Lee Badgley, 53,
passed away on Monday, May
23, 2022, at her home in La
Grande, Oregon.
Deanna was born Dec.
21, 1968, in McCleary,
Washington, to Dean Delano
Badgley and Jodie Lee
Quinlan. She grew up in
Florence, Oregon, graduated
from Siuslaw High School in
1987 and attended Western
Oregon State College.
In her youth she enjoyed dancing, including tap,
jazz, baton and especially ballet. She was a Star Wars
nerd, owning models and action figures. While in high
school, she was a foreign exchange student to Australia
and a participant in the 1987 Miss Oregon USA Pageant.
Deanna was proudly employed with Union Pacific
Railroad as an engineer and conductor and was a
member of the Union Pacific Employees Club. She was
a self-taught DIYer and loved to crochet.
Deanna is survived by her children, Jakob Robinson
(Mykaela) of Umatilla, Oregon, Austin Robinson of
Apache Junction, Arizona, Garrett Robinson (Alaina)
of San Diego, California, and Daniel Robinson of
Umatilla, Oregon; parents, Brian and Jodie Cole of
Florence, Oregon; sister, Karrie Rapich (Michael)
of Stockton, Utah; brother, Keith Cole (Tamara) of
Florence, Oregon; six grandchildren, Everly Robinson,
Renton, Maylin, Adelaide and Everett Robinson, and
Bella Robinson, and one grandson on the way; aunts
and uncles, Darius and Vickie Badgley, Robert and
KC Badgley, Hollee and Brian Riordan, Nina Mah and
Terry Quinlan; four nieces and two nephews; and nine
cousins. She was preceded in death by her biological
father, Dean; grandparents, Dan and Leona Badgley,
Joe and Glenda Quinlan, and Virgil and Dorothy Cole;
aunt, Emily Cole; and uncle, Bruce Cole.
A private memorial service will be held in Elma,
Washington, and a celebration of her life will be held in
La Grande at a later date.
Deanna will always be remembered for her friendly
smiling face, contagious giggle, and for touching the
lives of everyone she met.

Lee
Mayfield
Hargrove, 86, of Cove, passed
away on Monday, June 6, 2022,
at her residence. A celebration of
her life will be held at the Imbler
Christian Church.
Sharon was born March 30,
1936, in Klamath Falls, Oregon,
to Marvin and Dorothy (Blair)
Mayfield. She resided in Klamath
Falls; Renton, Washington; and
Enterprise, Brookings and Cove. She attended Fairview
Elementary, Altamont Elementary, Altamont Junior
High School and Klamath Union High School. She
married her one true love, Jimmie Lee Hargrove, on
July 31, 1953, in Lakeview, Oregon. They would have
celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this coming
July.
Sharon was a full-time mother and grandmother
but was also employed by J.C. Penney, the Salvation
Army and the Oregon Elections Board. In addition, she
was known for baking her famous pies at Grumpy’s,
the family’s restaurant, and for serving the family’s
construction business through bookkeeping. She
enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, ceramics, traveling
to see family and friends, and playing her piano. In
their younger years, Sharon and Jimmie enjoyed square
dancing in Klamath Falls at the Winema Twirlers.
Sharon was active all the years of her life in the
Christian Church, directing Vacation Bible School,
leading Faith Promise to raise funds for church
missions, helping with children’s Sunday school and
teen youth group outings, and cooking at church camps.
Sharon also loved to write poetry and stories. She had a
piece published in The Lookout Magazine.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Jimmie;
children, Deanna Baker (Ron) of Phoenix, Arizona,
Bryan Hargrove (Susan) of La Grande, Oregon, Mark
Hargrove (Ricarda) of Aumsville, Oregon, and Greg
Hargrove (Linda) of Union, Oregon; sisters, Nancy
Kendall (Stan), Barbara Thomas (Jerry), Judith Kinloch,
Juanita Mayfield, Ruby Smith and Jeanette Shields; 17
grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Dorothy
Mayfield; sisters, Geraldine Mayfield and Diane Burke;
and brother, George Mayfield.
