Writer-director John Krasinski’s follow-
up to his 2018 horror yarn catches
up with the Abbott clan in the wake
of the events of the first film, as they
venture in silence into the unknown
of the outside world and realize the
creatures that hunt by sound aren’t the
only threats to their survival. Krasinski
and wife Emily Blunt, star along with
Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe.

Shot “found footage” style, this 2013
sci-fi thriller follows the fortunes of the
first manned space mission to Europa,
one of Jupiter’s moons. While the crew
is en route, a solar storm knocks out
communications with mission control
back home, but the ship safely reaches
Europa and the team tries to pursue its
goals. Instead, they encounter a baffling
mystery. Sharlto Copley and Michael
Nyqvist star.
This reunion of the Oscar-winning
“Hurt Locker” team of director
Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark
Boal is an engrossing, often exciting
dramatization of the hunt for Osama
bin Laden. Jessica Chastain’s star rises
higher with her performance as a CIA
analyst who pursues her belief of the
terrorist leader’s location. Her hunch
ultimately prompts one of modern
history’s most famous raids.
