Local students named to EOU Dean’s List
LA GRANDE — Eastern Oregon University named 565 students
to the Dean’s List for the 2021 fall term. Qualifying students achieve
and maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while
completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded EOU coursework.
According to a press release from the university, “EOU congratu-
lates each of these high-achieving students, and acknowledges their
dedication to academic excellence.”

Cove senior lunch
served twice a month
COVE — Cove senior
lunches are served at
Founders Hall on the Ascen-
sion School grounds on the
fi rst and third Tuesdays of
the month. Coff ee and tea
are available at 11:30 a.m.,
and lunch is at noon.
The Tuesday, March 15,
lunch will have a St. Pat-
rick’s Day theme. The menu
is corned beef and cabbage,
red potatoes with carrots,
salad bar, soda bread and

7:47 a.m. — Union County Sheriff ’s Offi ce arrested Evann Scott
Brown, 30, on a Union County warrant on charges of 10 counts of
negotiating a bad check, 10 counts of theft by deception of less
than $1,000, eight counts of criminal possession of a forged instru-
ment, nine counts of forgery and 11 counts of identity theft.
7:54 a.m. — A La Grande resident on the 10300 block of East
Second Street reported a Facebook scam. A Union County sheriff ’s
deputy made contact and explained options.
3:53 p.m. — A caller reported possible animal abuse on the 800
block of Fifth Street, North Powder.
8:15 p.m. — A caller reported suspicious circumstances in the
area of 60300 Bushnell Road, La Grande, that turned out to be a
disturbance. Local law enforcement responded and separated the
parties.
9:24 p.m. — La Grande police responded to the 3200 block
of Alder Street on a report of a disturbance. Police arrested Shi-
loh Kane Dickenson, 37, on a parole and probation detainer and
for second-degree criminal mischief, attempted assault on a peace

MISSION — Wildhorse Resort & Casino is ready to

The free event is Saturday, March 5, beginning at
8 p.m. in the casino’s parking lot — just off Interstate
84’s Exit 216 at Mission. People are encouraged to
arrive early, as the parking lot is expected to fi ll up fast.
Featuring a 250-foot wall of fi re, the pyrotechnic
show will be set to music. People can tune into KCUW
at 104.1 FM for the choreographed show.

8:37 a.m. — La Grande police responded to the 200 block of
Fir Street on a report of fi nding drug paraphernalia. An offi cer dis-
posed of the paraphernalia.
8:58 a.m. — GRH Urgent Care, 10303 S. Walton Road, Island
City, reported a patient with a dog bite. An animal enforcement
offi cer responded and took a report.
11:06 a.m. — A caller made a complaint about a restraining
order violation on the 600 block of North Dewey Street, Union. A
Union County sheriff ’s deputy made contact and provided options.
11:47 a.m. — La Grande police received a complaint about
fraud on the 1400 block of T Avenue. An offi cer made contact and
took a report.
2:10 p.m. — A caller asked to speak to a La Grande police offi cer
about ongoing disturbances at a residence on the 1000 block of
Jackson Avenue. An offi cer made contact and explained options.
7:56 p.m. — La Grande police responded to a report of a distur-
bance on the 1000 block of Jackson Avenue, the same address as
the previous complaint. Police were not able to fi nd one of the par-
ties involved in the disturbance.
10:13 p.m. — La Grande police received a request for a welfare
check at Grande Woods Apartments, 2005 Gekeler Lane. Offi cers
checked, and the person was OK.

the 1000 block of Jackson Avenue on a report of a disturbance.
Offi cers gave a warning for disorderly conduct.
1:12 p.m. — A caller reported gunshots in the area of 73000
Gordon Creek Road, Elgin. A Union County sheriff ’s deputy made
contact and took information.
1:14 p.m. — La Grande police received a complaint about
a restraining order on the 2100 block of Fir Street. An offi cer
responded and will follow up.
1:34 p.m. — A caller on the 2200 block of Linda Lane, La Grande,
reported identity theft. An offi cer responded and took a report.
2:34 p.m. — La Grande police responded to the 1600 block of
Madison Avenue on report of a disturbance. Police arrested Steven
McBride, 40, for misdemeanor and felony fl eeing, as well as on a
Union County warrant for three counts of fi rst-degree forgery and
three Baker County warrants for failure to appear.
5:13 p.m. — A caller reported a vehicle theft in the area of
10200 West Fourth Street, Island City. A Union County sheriff ’s dep-
uty responded and took a report.
11:57 p.m. — La Grande police received a complaint about
harassment on the 2400 block of O Avenue. An offi cer made con-
tact and gave options.

Judy Ann (Wilcher) Pratt
October 11, 1946 – February 2, 2022
Judy Ann Pratt, 75, of Elgin,
passed away on Wednesday, Feb.
2, 2022, at her residence. At her re-
quest, there will not be a service.
Judy was born on Oct. 11, 1946, in
Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Ervin and
Lois (Johnson) Wilcher. She attended
schools in Klamath Falls. She mar-
ried Jean Wright and they divorced.
She later married Herbert Pratt.
Judy worked as a waitress and a bartender. She enjoyed
getting together with her sisters, canning and going on
trips. She also enjoyed cooking, spending time with family
and camping.
Judy is survived by her children, Jean Wright (Dawn)
of Elgin, Oregon, Tom Wright (Frankie) of Elko, Nevada,
and L.B. Perex (Franko) of Winnemucca, Nevada; broth-
ers, Ervin Wilcher and Gary Wilcher (Judi); sisters, Bever-
ly Walters (Terry), Rosie Ledson and Katie Hines (Rick);
12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and numer-
ous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Herbert Pratt; parents, Erivn and Lois; and sister,
Florance Ashford.

Keith Alden Stubblefield
October 31, 1936 – February 16, 2022
Keith Alden Stubblefield, 85,
of Salem, Oregon, passed away
peacefully in the comfort of his
own home surrounded by family
on Feb. 16, 2022. Keith was born
in La Grande, Oregon, in 1936.
His parents were Harlan and Edna
Stubblefield. For most of his youth,
his family lived in Elgin, Oregon,
where he enjoyed hunting, fishing,
horseback riding and skiing. He even crafted his first
pair of skis himself. His family later moved to Baker,
Oregon, where he met his wife, Cheryl (Culley) Stub-
blefield. They attended high school together and mar-
ried in 1956 in Baker.
Keith had many ambitions vocationally. He earned
his bachelor of science degree from Eastern Oregon
College in 1964 and took his graduate study in crim-
inology at the University of Maryland. In 1964 he
moved his family to Washington, D.C., where he was
appointed research assistant for President Johnson’s
Commission on Law Enforcement and Administrative
Justice. He was later appointed to Correctional Man-
power and Training in Washington, D.C. He held many
executive positions in law enforcement. He served as
deputy administrator of the Law Enforcement Council
of Alaska and administrator of the Law Enforcement
Council of Oregon.
Keith served in the Army Reserve for 38 years as
first sergeant of the 20th PSYOP Company. He earned
his airborne wings in 1966 and participated in training
exercises with allies such as Canada and Germany.
Keith is preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl; old-
est son, Brent; and sister, Joyce Stubblefield. He is sur-
vived by his sisters, Karen Stubblefield Linfor and Mar-
la Houston; daughter, Tami (Alisa) Allen-Stubblefield;
son, Rick (Wendy) Stubblefield; and daughter, Kimber-
ly Stubblefield; as well as seven grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.
Keith loved and was loved by many and will be
missed more than words can express.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on March 4, 2022, at
Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 201 Oak Grove Road
NW, Salem, Oregon 97304.
