sheriff’s
deputy
assisted a driver with a dis-
abled vehicle at Highway 82
and Pierce Road, La Grande.
11:55 a.m. — A Union resi-
dent reported fraud. A Union
County sheriff’s deputy made
contact and took information.
2:36 p.m. — La Grande
police responded to the 1300
block of O Avenue on a report
of a disturbance over careless
driving. An officer separated
the parties.
4:22 p.m. — A caller com-
plained about careless driv-
ing at Ramo Flat Apartments,
1091 S. Main St., Union. A
Union County sheriff’s deputy
made contact, but the vehicles
had left the area.
9:04 p.m. — La Grande
police responded to the 2100
block of Maple Street on a
report of a domestic distur-
bance. An officer separated
the parties.
9:08 p.m. — Local law
enforcement responded to a
domestic disturbance on the
1400 block of Cherry Street,
La Grande, and separated the
parties.
FRIDAY, DEC. 31
8:54 a.m. — La Grande
police responded to a res-
idence on the 500 block of
Adams Avenue for a domestic
disturbance. An officer sepa-
rated the parties.
3:24 p.m. — La Grande
police received a report of a
theft at the Royal Motor Inn,
1510 Adams Ave. An offi-
cer made contact and took a
report.
4:40 p.m. — A caller
reported animal abuse on
the 800 block of North Cove
Street, Union.
5:24 p.m. — La Grande
police received a report of a
burglary on the 500 block of
Second Street. An officer made
contact and took a report.
6:36 p.m. — La Grande
police and medics responded
to Starbucks Coffee Co., 2712
Island Ave., for an accident
with an injury. Police took a
report.
7:54 p.m. — La Grande
police received a complaint
about something suspicious
on the 3000 block of Birch
Street. An officer determined
it was a firework.
8:00 p.m. — La Grande
police cleared traffic hazards
at the intersections of Island
Avenue and Albany Street and
Mulholland Drive.
11:09 p.m. — A La Grande
officer at Bi-Mart. 2510 Adams
Ave., warned a driver for being
careless.
SATURDAY, JAN. 1
11:22 a.m. — La Grande
police responded to a report
of a domestic disturbance at
Cove Avenue and 21st Street
and separated the parties.
11:33 a.m. — Police and an
ambulance responded to The
Annex apartment complex,
105 Fir St., on a report of an
assault. Police took a report.
2:13 p.m. — La Grande
police responded to a vehi-
cle crash on the 2000 block of
Fourth Street. Police arrested
Rudy Lakmis, 29, of La Grande,
for DUII.
5:37 p.m. — La Grande
police responded to the 700
block of K Avenue on a report
of a traffic accident. Police
arrested Herbert Hairness Jr.,
32, for DUII.
8:43 p.m. — A caller
reported the theft of a vehi-
cle from the 2900 block of
Third Street, La Grande. An
officer made contact and took
information.
SUNDAY, JAN. 2
6:48 a.m. — A caller
reported disabled vehicles at
Mulholland Drive and 26th
Street, La Grande. Local law
enforcement received many
reports of stuck or disabled
vehicles throughout the day.
8:32 a.m. — La Grande
police removed a hazard from
the road at Cove Avenue and
Willow Street.
10:36 a.m. — La Grande
police responded to Fourth
Street and Spring Avenue for
a vehicle crash. Police took a
report.
4:11 p.m. — A caller
reported a stop sign was down
at Fourth Street and N Avenue,
La Grande.
5:42 p.m. — A caller
reported a power line was
down at U Avenue and Maple
Street, La Grande. An offi-
cer responded and noti-
fied Oregon Trail Electric
Cooperative.
6:17 p.m. — A caller
reported a trespasser on the
500 block of Patton Street,
Summerville. A Union County
sheriff’s deputy was not able
to respond due to the weather
but made contact and
explained options and will fol-
low up.
10:46 p.m. — La Grande
police received a report of a
disturbance at a residence on
the 1200 block of Adams Ave-
nue. This turned out to be a
noise complaint.
11:15 p.m. — La Grande
police responded to a report
of a disturbance on the 400
block of Harrison Avenue and
separated the parties.

Teresa (Terri) Elaine Hocker,
70, of La Grande, passed away on
Monday, December 13, 2021. A fu-
neral service will begin
Friday, January 7, at
2:30 p.m. at Wallowa
Christian Church in
Wallowa. Burial will
be at Wallowa Ceme-
tery. A reception will
follow at the same lo-
cation as the funeral.
Terri was born
February 10, 1951, in
Enterprise, Oregon, to Macel Mae
(Moys) Fisher and Leon Norman
(Bill) Fisher. Terri attended school
in Wallowa, graduating in 1969.
She also attended college at Eastern
Oregon University in La Grande,
Oregon.
Terri married Gayle Hocker on
Sept. 4, 1970. They were married for
51 years until Terri passed.
Terri spent her life as a business-
woman, showing her two daughters
a strong work ethic until she was
forced to retire due to medical rea-
sons. Her priority was family, cele-
brating every occasion possible with
all. She loved spending time with
her husband, children,
grandchildren and
great-granddaughter.
She enjoyed fish-
ing, riding four-wheel-
ers, mushrooming,
practice
shooting,
listening to music and
going to Wildhorse
Casino with family
members.
Terri is survived by her husband,
Gayle Hocker; daughters, Danyelle
(Josh) Glendenning and Kari (Cody)
Ford; sister, Patty Atkinson; brother,
Charles (Mardell) Fisher; grandchil-
dren, Denise (Kylar) Schilz, Bren-
nan Hale, Nolan Hale and Grayson
Glendenning; great-granddaughter,
Reese Schilz; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; sister, Larae Hocker;
and brother, Michael Fisher.

83, of La Grande, passed
away on December 23,
2021. A Ro-

Brian was born Sep-
tember 19, 1938, to War-
ren and Thelma Spencer
in Baker City, Oregon,
and was the oldest of sev-
en children. He married
Catherine Diane O’Toole
Spencer September 2,
1989, and they were mar-
ried for 32 years.
Brian attended St.
Francis Academy in Bak-
er City, Oregon; Gon-
zaga University in Spo-
kane, Washington; and
Marquette University in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
where he received his
Doctorate of Dentistry.
After graduating from
Marquette, he enlisted in
the Navy and became a
proud member of the Sea
Bees and served in Viet-
nam. At the conclusion
of his service in the Navy
he moved to La Grande,
Oregon, and established a
dental practice that he op-
erated until his retirement
in 2012.
Brian was an active
member of the Catholic
Church and a strong sup-
porter of his community
belonging to many com-
munity organizations and
he especially enjoyed sup-
porting area youth at the
Eastern Oregon Livestock
Show. He was an avid
outdoorsman and hunter,
taking joy in the many
hunting trips with his son
Brian. Spend-
ing time experi-
encing the nat-
ural beauty of
the surrounding
area was some-
thing that gave
him both peace
and joy. He was
a generous and
kind man, al-
ways willing to
help with most any project
or to those needing a help-
ing hand. He was a won-
derful husband, father,
grandfather, and lifelong
friend to many and en-
joyed spending time with
his family and friends tru-
ly looking forward to any
opportunity to spend time
with those he loved, creat-
ing much laughter as the
prankster of the party. In
retirement, he turned his
talents to jewelry making,
creating beautiful one-of-
a-kind pieces for family
and friends.
Brian is survived by
his wife Catherine (Katy);
six children, Brian (WA),
Kathleen, Molly and
Bridget (OR), Laura and
Michelle (ID); his sisters
Suzy, Cheryl, Jan, Celeste,
and Kim; 8 grandchildren
and 2 great-grandchil-
dren. He is preceded in
death by his parents and
his brother Gregory.

He was born to
eternal life on De-

in La Grande, OR.
Stanley
re-
ceived his ele-
mentary education
1st – 7th grade in
Silverton,
Ore-
gon. His family
moved to Portland
in 1945. He finished his
elementary education at
Ockley Green School
in Portland and grad-
uated from Jefferson
High School in 1950.
He attended Augsburg
College in Minneapolis,
MN and graduated with
a Bachelor’s Degree in
Social Work in 1956.
Stanley went on to
work for the state of Or-
egon in 1957. His first
job was with Baker City
as a social worker for
Baker County Public
Welfare. He later moved
back to the Portland area
and went to work for
Clackamas County Wel-
fare in Oregon City. In
September of 1966, he
moved to Lakeview, OR
where he worked as an
administrator for Lake
County Public Welfare.
In March of 1967, he
moved to La Grande as
administrator for Union
County Public Welfare
and Children Services.
He then went to work for
Public Employee Retire-
ment Services as a coun-
selor and later retired
from P.E.R.S. in July of
1992.
Stanley married Gai-
lya Joy Ehni on March
17, 1962 at Central Lu-
theran Church in Port-
land, OR.
Stanley is survived
by his wife, Gailya
(Gai) Ludviksen of La
Grande, OR; sons, Kev-
in (Sherry) Ludviksen
of Upper Perry, OR, and
Peter (Sara) Ludviksen
of Tustin, MI; daughter,
Rachel Head of Suther-
lin, OR; granddaugh-
ters, Kaela Ludviksen of
La Grande, OR, Haley
and Hannah Ludvik-
sen of Grand Rapids,
MI, Sharman Sams of
La Grande, OR, Lorrie
Duncan of Reedsport,
OR, and Lacie Head
of La Grande, OR;
great-granddaughters,
Mykinzy Ludviksen of
Sutherlin, OR and Em-
erson Gregerson of La
Grande, OR; and several
nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death
by his parents, John and
