Fishtrap Fireside is a monthly reading series designed to feature diverse voices from local Wallowa County writers. Each month off ers a fresh look at what people of the West are thinking about and writing down. “This month’s Fireside lineup repre- sents three diff erent chapters of Wal- lowa County writers,” said Mike Midlo, Fishtrap’s program director. “Sara Miller helped found Fishtrap back in 1988, Shannon McNerney leads Fishtrap now, and Marika Straw represents the future. Prior to coming to Fishtrap in 2015, she was a music teacher and singer, worked in music publishing for 13 years, was the executive director of the Portland Symphonic Choir, and was a consultant helping small businesses and nonprofi ts create eff ective marketing strategies. She currently lives, writes, sings, cooks, attempts gardening, and snug- gles with her ridiculous beasties at her dream home in Joseph. Shannon McNerney Shannon McNerney is an Oregonian by choice. Born in Denver, her family moved to Portland before she had words to express her opinion on the subject.
