The skits fi lmed in Texas were directed by Leanne Hinkle, who recently relocated there from Baker County. Proceeds from the DVD sales will go to Cancer for College, which pro- vides college scholarships to cancer survivors. The nonprofi t was founded by Craig Pollard, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease at age 15. He beat that, but then the cancer came back when he was 19 and attending the Univer- sity of Southern California. During his senior year at the USC Business School, Pollard wrote a business plan for a charity that would provide college scholarships to cancer survivors. He called it Cancer for College. The local connection to that nonprofi t is Isabella Evans, who beat leukemia and is a four-time recip- ient of a Cancer for College scholarship. She is currently a senior at Eastern Oregon University. She also stars in several of the plays fea- tured on “Just Be ‘Claus’ It’s Christmas.” Actor Will Farrell is a major supporter of Cancer for College, and he will match any funds raised by the sales. Elgin Baptist Church Welcomes new Pastor It is with great pleasure that Elgin Baptist Church, 1325 Hartford Street, Elgin, OR, welcomes Pastor Bobby Johnson as the new Pastor of our congregation. His first service with us was the beginning of Advent, Sunday, No- vember 28th. He is coming from Valley Baptist Church in McMinnville, OR with his wife, Priscilla, and their five children. Pastor Johnson is the son-in-law of our former Pastor Brad Richmond, who was called home to be with the Lord in 2016. We would be delighted to have you come and meet and learn all about the Johnsons at our Christmas Eve service, 6:00 p.m. at Elgin Baptist Church.
