There are two — the fi rst, in June, is on the Zumwalt Prai- rie, and the second is in Hells Canyon in September. OUTPOST ON THE ZUMWALT PRAIRIE June 20-25, 2022 CMarie Fuhrman is the instructor for the June experi- ence, which takes place on The Nature Conservancy Zumwalt Prairie Preserve — a 33,000- acre grassland in rural Wallowa County. The theme is “I Come Into the Peace of Wild Things.” Registration is is $1,195. Fuhrman is the author of “Camped Beneath the Dam: Poems” and co-editor of “Na- tive Voices.” She has pub- lished poetry and nonfiction in multiple journals including Emergence Magazine, Yellow Medicine Review, Cutthroat — a Journal of the Arts, Whitefish Review and Poetry Northwest, as well as several anthologies. Wilkins is also the author of a memoir, “The Mountain and the Fathers,” winner of a 2014 GLCA New Writers Award, and four collections of poetry, including “Thieve” and “When We Were Birds,” winner of the Oregon Book Award.
