15. Sheep
2. Land Products
All products must have been grown this year in
Union County. The judge will not consider blemished,
diseased, or wormy fruit or vegetables. quality and
uniform product is important to display of entries.
Sheaves must be at least 31⁄2 inches in diameter and
tied at neck with three ties. All fruits, nuts and veg-
etables not listing a specific number need enough
product for an attractive display. If you have an item
not listed, you can enter that
variety in a misc. lot.
Fruit Plate- Five fruits are needed to show con-
formity and nice display. Any nuts need 2 cups
minimum to show conformity and nice display.
Fruit Cup-All berries need to have about one cup
of product to make a nice display for judging.
Cherries and Crab Apples need about two cups
of product.
Grapes need 1-2 clusters.

Sheaves 3.5”-All plants (live or dried) should be
enough of plant to show typical plant quality.

3. Flowers
All fresh flowers to be grown by exhibitor. All
arrangements to be arranged by exhibitor. Exhibitor
may enter more than one exhibit per lot as long as
the color is different Exhibitor must identify exhibited
entry correctly. Exhibitors must bring their own
containers. Condition of stems and foliage will be
considered in judging. No artificial flowers or foliage
will be permitted. While we try to assure the safety
of your exhibits, responsibility for damaged or stolen
displays rests with the exhibitor.

4. Canning & Preserving
All entries must have been processed since the last
fair. Exhibitors are required to use labels on
exhibits which list: the product, date, processing
time and details of method used No recipes required
except for pickles and tomatoes. Exhibitors are
requested to exhibit canned product of good quality
prepared for home use rather than fancy packs Use
of paraffin, wire bails, glass or zinc caps, artificial fla-
voring, or coloring unless required, will automatically
disqualify the entry.
All jars should be clean with freely removable jar
rings for inspection. The judge may test any or all
jars. Entries must be submitted in standard size con-
tainers, 1⁄2 pint, pint or quart. Use up-to-date USDA
recommendations for home canning.

Entries made with prepared flour and mixes will not
be accepted. Cakes should be on covered, heavy
cardboard one inch larger than the cake. Bread
should be in plastic bags. Exhibitors should include
the recipe for display with the exhibit.

the Union County Fair nor have been entered in
4-H competition.
4. Entries must have been completed from August
2018 to present.

10. Photography
Each exhibitor must take responsibility for his/her
exhibit. The Fair Association will not assume respon-
sibility in case of accidental damage or theft.
All photographs must have been taken by the en-
trant, although processing may be done by others.
Due to the fact that fair goers are composed of all
ages, nudes, suggestive or disturbing photography
will not be exhibited, at the discretion of the division
Chairman. Glass mounted or framed exhibits are not
allowed due to safety factors.
Entries will be limited to 1 per lot. An exhibitor A color
print may be a black and white that has been
colored. A black and white may be standard or sepia
toned.

Participants may enter up to three poems on any
subject in any form. Participants must type all poems
in at least 12 point unless you, the author, do not
type. In such cases, your entry must appear in your
own hand-writing. Participants poem should not
contain profanity, obscenity, or vulgarity.

RULES AND PROCEDURES FOR
OPEN CLASS LIVESTOCK
1. All entries must be listed with the Livestock Chair
man on or before Saturday, July 30, 2021.
2. There are no stall fees charged to Beef, Dairy
Cattle, Swine, or Sheep. Reservations are made in
the order entries are received. Deadline is a week
prior to fair.
3. Livestock are to arrive on Tuesday from 8:00 am –
8:00 pm. First bedding of straw will be provided by
the fair. Animals including tack will be released on
Sunday of fair.
4. Exhibitors are allowed to show up to 2 animals in
one lot.
5. Owners are responsible for keeping their stock
under control/secured at all times while on the fair-
grounds.
6. All livestock exhibits are required to display
identification information in order to receive premium
monies. Stall cards will be available at the barn office
or can be picked up from the Livestock Chairman.
7. Any question or dispute, not provided for in these
rules, will be referred to Fair Chairman-whose deci-
sion shall be final.
8. Prize/premium money will be mailed.
9. Animal’s age is in reference to this year’s fair date.
10. Bedding/manure is to be placed in boxes to be
handled and removed by the fair. Please tend to
herdsmanship duties by 8 am daily. Premium money
will be withheld if animals are not fed, watered, and
cared for daily.
And remember...exhibiting is an open classroom. You
are the instructor and the public brings their
curiosity. Have fun!
12. Beef Cattle
Exhibitor must own all animals shown. Bulls must
have a nose ring when led outside of stall area. All
breeding animals over 4 months of age must be vac-
cinated for Brucellosis. All cattle must be registered
with appropriate breed registry. If not, animals must
be shown in non-registered classes.
Breed association certificates must be presented to
Livestock Chairman for inspection before the show.

13. Dairy Cattle
Bulls must have a nose ring when lead outside of
stall area. Animals over one year of age must be
dehorned. All dairy cattle shall be the property of the
exhibitor and shall appear so on Breed association
registration certificates. Breed association certifi-
cates must be presented to Livestock Chairman for
inspection before the show.

16. Rabbit/Guinea Pig
Exhibitors take rabbits to show table for judging.
Please show consideration for your animal by
checking feed, water, provide ice jugs in hot weather,
and cleanliness. Champion ribbons will be awarded
in classes with 3 or more exhibitors, as the judge
deems worthy. To ensure a neat presentation, please
store personal cages, extra feed etc, away from
display.

18. Dairy Goats
Entry fee for show is $5.00 per goat. Late fee is an
additional $4.00 per goat. Entry Fee must accom-
pany entry. Make checks payable to the Union Co.
Fair. The original registration or records certificate is
required for all animals 6 mos. and older. A stamped
duplicate application is accepted on goats under 6
months of age. Judging will begin Thursday at 8:00
am with Youth Showmanship. Open Senior Does
will follow at 9:00 am. ADGA rules shall govern. No
horned goats, or dry does over 2 yrs. will be allowed
in the show ring. Pen fees are $3.00 per pen. Clea-
nout will be provided.
Contact show superintendent to preorder bedding.
Animals will be released immediately following the
Junior Doe Show.

19. Pee-Wee Showmanship
OPEN TO AGES 3 THROUGH GRADE 3
Pee-wee exhibitors may borrow an animal. No pens
will be available unless animals are also entered in
the open-class show. Owners are responsible for
keeping their stock under control/
secured at all times while exhibiting. Pre-registration
is required. The purpose of the Pee-wee showman-
ship class is to provide young exhibitors an opportu-
nity to experience a showmanship
class. This is a learning opportunity to experience a
showmanship class. Every exhibiter will be receiving
a ribbon. No premiums will be given. Exhibitors must
be able to handle and control their
animals to benefit from this class.
