AKER CITY — Cale Moon
didn’t set out to be a musi-
cian.
He started acting and modeling
when he was 11.
Then, at 13, his voice took on a
much deeper tone.
“That, unfortunately, took a lot of
my acting jobs away,” he said.
But that voice seemed made to
sing.
“I’ve always had an affinity for
music, but never considered it as a
career until I was 15,” he said.
In 2009 he was selected for Team
USA in the World Championships
of Performing Arts.
He signed up to compete in act-
ing, modeling, and vocals.
And he only had eight weeks to
learn how to play the guitar.
“That began my process of be-
coming a guitar player,” he said. “I
practiced for eight hours a day.”
The week-long competition was
held in Hollywood, California.
It was, Moon said, an “absolutely
phenomenal time.”
His performance caught the
interest of a manager and Moon

“I played every festival and open
mic I could in a three-state area,”
he said.
He started his own business at
16. Several years later, his family
sold their house and bought a bus.
At 18, Moon set out to tour.
That was March of 2013.
“We’ve been on the road ever
since,” he said.
This weekend he’s landing in
oon has traveled coast to
coast with his music.
“From Seattle to the
southern tip of Florida,” he said.
In 2010, he had the chance to
work with songwriter Steve Dorff,
who has written songs for George
Strait, Garth Brooks, Whitney
Houston, Ann Murray and many
more.
“He took me under his wing,”
Cale said. “My songwriting really
took off.”
He plays original songs, but
knows a lot of familiar ones, too.
“Any place I go, I’ll open it up to
requests,” he said.
In 2020, when travel and con-
certs stopped across the United
States, Moon produced a weekly

“I learned how to produce an
amateur television show,” he said.
As restrictions ease, his calendar
is filling once again.
“This summer is pretty packed,”
he said.
His style, he said, is like Alan
Jackson crossed with Chris
LeDoux.
