MEETINGS
• LA GRANDE — A regular ses-
sion of the city of La Grande’s Plan-
ning Commission begins at 6 p.m.
Tuesday, June 8. The meeting will
be held by electronic communi-
cations. The public may view the
meeting at www.facebook.com/
LaGrandeCityManager. Com-
ments or questions in writing must
be received by 5 p.m. the day of
the scheduled meeting. To submit

8:44 a.m. — A caller reported possible animal abuse on the
2200 block of Adams Avenue, La Grande.
12:50 p.m. — La Grande police responded to a report of a
domestic disturbance at a residence on the 1800 block of 26th
Street. Officers found everything was OK at the scene.
1:33 p.m.— A caller reported two horses on the loose at
Pioneer Park, La Grande. An officer responded, but the horses
returned home before the officer arrived.
7:30 p.m. — La Grande police responded to the 1200 block
of Y Avenue on a call about a burglary. An officer took a report.
10:08 p.m. — A caller reported suspicious activity of vehicles
coming and going from a residence on the 1300 block of N Ave-
nue, La Grande.
BRIEFS
1:21 a.m. — A caller reported someone violating a restraining
order at a La Grande residence. A Union County sheriff’s deputy
arrested Heidi Noel Williams, 44, on a restraining order violation.
1:43 a.m. — A caller reported the theft of a vehicle from the
2200 block of Adams Avenue, La Grande. An officer responded,
and after much follow-up, determined this was a civil situation.
10:08 a.m. — A caller on the 1100 block of Y Avenue, La
Grande, reported a theft. An officer responded and gave options.
10:53 a.m. — An Elgin resident on the 1300 block of Beverly
Terrace reported a burglary. A Union County sheriff’s deputy
responded but took no report at the time.
1:28 p.m. — A Union County sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehi-
cle in the area of 71100 Highway 82, Elgin, and arrested Ronald
Alvin Wood, 63, for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
1:36 p.m. — A caller reported a burglary at Central Detailing,
2407 E. Q Ave., La Grande. An officer responded but there was no
report at this time.
5:13 p.m. — A caller reported a juvenile received drugs the
night before at Union City Park, Union. A Union County sheriff’s
deputy made contact and will follow up.
10:17 p.m. — La Grande police responded to the Hideout,
219 Fir St., on a report of a disturbance. Officers arrested Michelle
Rene Daniels, 56, for second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting
arrest and two counts of attempted assault on a peace officer.
10:46 p.m. — A caller on the 400 block of East Dearborn
Street, Union, reported a dog bit someone, and the victim was
at Grande Ronde Hospital, La Grande. A Union County sheriff’s
deputy responded and took a report.
TUESDAY, JUNE 1
Free summer lunch program
begins Monday
LA GRANDE — Community
Connection of Northeast Oregon will
begin its free Summer Food Ser-
vice Program Monday, June 7, at the
Riveria Activity Center, 2609 Second
St., La Grande. The free grab-
and-go lunches will be served from
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday until Aug. 27. The
meals must be taken off site.
The lunches are free for everyone
ages 1-18 regardless of race, color,
income level, national origin, reli-
gion, age or disability or residence.
Meals are available for adults for $4.
The Summer Food Service Program
is a federally funded USDA program.

Volunteers asked to join MERA
motorized trail work day
LA GRANDE — A motorized
trail work day at Mt. Emily Recre-
ation Area is set for Saturday, June 5.
Volunteers will meet at the Fox Hill
parking lot at 8:30 a.m. This is an
opportunity for everyone who enjoys
the use of the trails on MERA to help
with the upkeep that ensures they stay
open, safe and usable.
Users of the motorized trail system
who can’t come out Saturday to help
maintain the trails may volunteer their
time in other ways. For more informa-
tion call Sean at 541-963-1319.

1, 2021, at her residence. A funeral service will begin at
2 p.m. June 5 at the La Grande Faith Lutheran Church.

Courtney Michelle Hendrickson, 22, of La Grande,
died May 22, 2021. A celebration of her life will be
held June 5 at 2 p.m. at the Columbia View Commu-

Marilyn Y. Davis Suarez, 76, of Joseph, died June 1,

a 37.20-pound fish in 1990. According to Hauth, the family has been entering the tournament the past decade, and he has won the
tournament twice. Kymber, who will be in the sixth grade in the fall, garnered the junior division win with a catfish weighing in at
23.78 pounds.
Mary “June” Whitaker, 88, of Imbler, died March
29, 2021, at her residence. A celebration of her life will
be held June 7 at 11 a.m. at the Summerville Baptist
Church. Arrangements are by Loveland Funeral Chapel
& Crematory, La Grande.
