Magazine BAKER CITY — This summer the Oregon Trail is coming west right into town. The National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, (NHOT- IC) located fi ve miles outside of Baker City, remains closed to visi- tors. (The trails around Flagstaff Hill are open, however.) The fi rst wagon encampment is traditionally held over Memorial Day weekend. This year will be no different, but the wagons will be relocated to Geiser-Pollman Park and the Baker Heritage Museum. The “Oregon or Bust” encamp- ment will be active from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30. Hank Cramer, known as The Wandering Minstrel who has per- formed for years at the center, will play throughout both days. Cramer will also kick off the cen- ter’s summer concert series with a performance on Saturday, May 29, at 5 p.m. in the park. Saturday evening concerts are planned for nearly every weekend this summer.
