ENTERPRISE — The 34th annual Summer Fishtrap Gathering of
Writers will be held virtually July 12-18. After consulting with local and
regional public health professionals, organizers of the week-long writers
workshops came to the conclusion that July is likely still too early in the
vaccine rollout to safely hold Summer Fishtrap in person.
However, participants still can count on being part of a great writing
experience at Summer Fishtrap. The staff learned a lot last summer about
how to host a conference online and are hard at work adapting this year’s
conference. This year’s Summer Fishtrap will be even better, easier to ac-
cess, include new content and special activities such as virtual hikes, read-
ings and writing prompts, and promises to be a more enriching experience
for everyone.
Week-long writing workshops are offered in a variety of genres: fi ction,
nonfi ction, poetry, lyric essay, short story and — for the fi rst time at Sum-
mer Fishtrap — children’s literature.
Each workshop is limited to 13 participants, giving everyone the oppor-
tunity to build connections with a world-class instructor and their fellow
writers.
Adult workshops cost $855 (or $770 for Fishtrappers — details at www.
fi shtrap.org/be-a-fi shtrapper). Youth workshops are $550 (turn the page to
see more about youth workshops and scholarships).
Some workshops fi ll up quickly, and early registration is recommended.

“This year’s theme of ‘Resilience’ is even more resonant
as we’ve all experienced diffi cult times over the past year.
We hope your Summer Fishtrap week is a relief from all
that and inspires you to get some good writing done.”
