Cove senior meal
COVE — The Cove senior
meal program is off ering takeout
lunches on the fi rst and third
Tuesday of the month. Due to
COVID-19, meals are picked up
in front of Founders Hall instead
of being served inside. The lunch
will be handed out from noon to
12:30 p.m.
The menu for the next lunch,
April 20, is lasagna, broccoli, green
salad, French bread and carrot cake.
There is a $5 charge per meal. If you
haven’t been contacted, call Imie
Bristow at 541-568-4545 by Wednes-
day, April 14, to order your meal.
Art Center East plans classes,
take-home kits
LA GRANDE — Art Center East,
1006 Penn Ave., La Grande, will re-
sume classes as early as mid-April,
with online and in-person options.
In May, the art center also will
off er “Make & Take Kits.” These take-
home art projects allow adults to
explore a diff erent medium each
month and will be available for
purchase as a subscription or a la
carte. A young artist version also is
in the works.

ideas for a Make & Take Kit, chil-
dren’s activity or for an in-person
or online class may submit a class

Mary June Whitaker, 88,
of La Grande, died March
29 at her residence. A cel-
ebration of her life will be
announced at a later time.
Mary, also known
as June, was born Aug.
2, 1932, in Lovelock,
Nevada, to Patrick and
Flores (Case) McCarthy.
She resided in Imbler and
Madras, and at Haystack
Ranch, Elko, Nevada.
She attended schools in
Lovelock and Fallon,
Nevada, and Santa Maria,
California.
On May 2, 1951, June
married Walter “Bill”
W. Whitaker. She was a
devoted wife and mother.
June enjoyed crocheting
and cooking, and was a
member of the Summer-
ville Baptist Church. She
and Bill owned the Imbler
Cafe for several years.
Surviving relatives
include her sons and
daughters-in-law, Will
and Sherry Whitaker of

left the area before police

reported minors smoking
in the area of Jackson and

enforcement responded to
a residence on the 1800
block of Fourth Street, La
Grande, for a domestic
disturbance call. Police
determined this was a
civil issue and explained
options.

reported a theft at Max
Square in downtown La
Grande. An offi cer made
contact and planned to

9:27 p.m. — A caller
reported a suspicious male
on the 600 block of Hib-
bler Street, Cove. A Union
County sheriff ’s deputy

anyone but made sure the

from a residence on the

Avenue. An offi cer
responded and warned
subjects about the noise.

asked to speak to police
regarding a civil dispute.

a report of a disturbance

niles caused a disturbance

about a barking dog. The
