Bentz announces 2021 Congressional Art Competition The Observer WASHINGTON — Oregon U.S. Rep. Cliff Bentz, R-Ontario, recently announced his office is accepting submissions for the 2021 Congressional Art Competition. Submis- sions are due by April 23. High school students from Oregon’s 2nd District can compete in the annual visual art competition for a chance to have their art- work on display in the United States Capitol. “The annual Congres- sional Art Competition is a unique tradition and enjoy- able part of my role as United States representa- tive,” Bentz said in a press release. “It is an exciting opportunity for our nation’s youth to showcase their artwork. I look for- ward to receiving submis- sions from across Oregon’s 2nd Congressional District and seeing the many ways young artists can apply their talents and vision.” A panel of experts, which includes local art- ists and art professors, will review submissions for the competition. In addition to a spot in the 2021 national student art exhibit in the Capitol, the winner could receive round-trip airfare for two to visit Washington, D.C., a chance to see their art- work on display. Wallowa Fiddle Tunes Camp goes virtual The Observer WALLOWA — The board of directors of the Wallowa Valley Music Alli- ance has made a decision to hold Wallowa Fiddle Tunes Camp 2021 as a virtual pro- gram this July. The decision was made with careful consideration regarding the health and safety of camp participants and the local community. The Wallowa Valley Music Alliance in a press release said the board is excited to reenvision what the long-standing music camp could grow to be.
