5 Thursday, March 18, 2021 GO! magazine — A&E in Northeast Oregon Crossroads ART Center restarts CLASSES this month Discover a new art, or come back to your favorite ongoing class BAKER CITY — Due to declin- ing COVID-19 cases in Baker County, Baker City’s Crossroads Carnegie Art Center is again offer- ing education programs. All classes will be capped at six students to ensure physical dis- tancing. Face coverings that cover nose and mouth are required for ages 5 and older. Classes also include contact tracing information and wellness checks. Individuals who want to access classes but have an ADA disability are encouraged to contact Executive Director Ginger Savage at 541-523-5369 to review options for participation. “Our goal is to get people of all ages back to the art center partici- pating in classes,” Savage said. The Crossroads scholarship fund is available. Recipients are asked to contribute 10% of their tuition. Enroll in classes online at www. crossroads-arts.org. The class for ages 6-8 begins April 6 and meets Tuesdays from 4-5 p.m. A class for ages 9 and older starts April 7 and meets Wednesdays from 4-5 p.m. Friedman will utilize very basic concepts of dance and rhythm and simple choreography. Cost of each class is $24. ORIGAMI GREETING CARDS Learn to make unique greeting cards in this class set for Thursday, April 15, from 6-8 p.m. The class is for ages 12 and older, although ages 8-11 may attend for $5 with a paid adult. These cards are made using a napkin fold process and then can be individualized with color and photographs (see above). The craft is a great use for old calendars and Ginger Rembold will teach a class on simple glass etching on Thursday, March 25, from 6-8 p.m. This is for ages 12 and older. Ages 8-11 may attend with a paid adult. Participants should bring three to four glass items to etch (the Dollar Tree is a great source but be aware sharply curved surfaces are more diffi cult) plus simple pattern ideas. Bring a hard copy of a pattern, an X-Acto knife and old towel. Cost is $16 members, $24 non- members. PHOTO JOURNALING FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS Debbie Friedman will start this six-week class on April 8. It meets Thursdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. In this class, participants will walk around Baker City to explore visual imagery and basic photo- graphic concepts. Images will be paired with jour- naling — essays, poetry and daily diaries. Cost is $48 for 12 hours of in- struction plus a $5 supply fee.
