Art classes resume
at Crossroads
BAKER CITY — Crossroads
Carnegie Art Center, 2020 Auburn
Ave., Baker City, is restarting art
classes this month.
Ginger Rembold will teach a
class on batik at 6 p.m. Thursday,
March 18. This workshop, for ages
12 and older, is an introductory
class of the Indonesian and Indian
art of batik, which combines a wax
resist process, dye and fabric. This
class will involve hot wax and will
run two to three hours.
Participants should bring a
simple design idea with a pattern
no bigger than 12 inches square,
plus a fi ne-tip black Sharpie. Stain
glass patterns work well for the ba-
tik process. Additional hair dryers
are also helpful. Dye, wax, fabric
and tools all provided. Multiple pat-
terns also available for student use.
Cost is $24 for Crossroads mem-
bers, or $36 for nonmembers. There
also is a $5 supply fee.
Rembold will offer another class,
this one on glass etching, from 6-8
p.m. Thursday, March 25. This is
for ages 12 and older, although
ages 8 to 11 can attend with a paid
adult. Participants should bring
three to four glass items to etch
(The Dollar Tree is a good source),
plus simple pattern ideas sized to
the glassware. Also, bring an exacto
knife and an old towel to cushion
the work surface.
Cost is $16 members, $24 non-
members. There is a $5 supply fee.
Beginning March 10, Becky
Mancino Litke will resume her
“Learn to Love Watercolors and
Pastels” class. It meets Wednesdays
at Crossroads. There are two ses-
sions: 3-5 p.m. or 5-7 p.m.
Cost is $16 per session for mem-
bers, or $24 for nonmembers.
