Jhansi”
The 1857 Indian Rebellion against the
British East India Company serves as
the backdrop for Swati Bhise’s 2019
period drama, which chronicles the
saga of Rani Lakshmibai (Devika
Bhise), the Rani of Jhansi. A feminist
icon in her country and a fearless
freedom fighter, as a 24-year-old
general, she led her people against the
British Empire.

After learning his girlfriend (Cara
Delevingne, “Carnival Row”) is dying,
a teen (Jaden Smith, “The Pursuit
of Happyness”) sets out to give her a
life’s worth of experiences in the year
she has left in this 2020 tearjerker
from director Mitja Okorn (“Planeta
Singli”). Nia Long, Cuba Gooding Jr.
and RZA are also in the solid cast.
