Little Libraries in the Parks provides free and direct access to books. To use the little libraries, readers may take a book and return it or replace it with a different book. PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT WEDNESDAY, NOV. 25 10:05 a.m. — A Union County sheriff’s deputy received a report of a minor in possession of tobacco at Cove School, 803 Main St., Cove. The deputy issued a citation. 4:21 p.m. — La Grande police responded to the 1700 block of Gekeler Lane on a report of a pos- sible theft. An offi cer determined the report was unfounded. 5:56 p.m. — La Grande police received a report of a vehicle theft on the 2700 block of Cove Avenue. An offi cer contacted the sub- ject who did not wish to report the vehicle as stolen. 7 p.m. — La Grande police responded to the 700 block of 20th Street for a disturbance. An offi cer sep- arated the parties. 7:57 p.m. — La Grande police responded to a report of someone suffering a mental crisis. An offi cer responded, and the party agreed to turn down the music. 7:27 a.m. — La Grande police responded to a report of a domestic dis- turbance on the 2700 block of Bearco Loop. Offi cers determined the parties were in an argument and sepa- rated them. 9:39 a.m. — A caller on Cherry Street, La Grande, reported a barking dog. 10:05 a.m. — La Grande police received a report of a burglary at a business on the 2200 block of 26th Street. An offi cer made contact and took a report. 12:18 p.m. — La Grande police received a request for a welfare check on the 2000 block of Gekeler Lane. An offi cer responded and found everyone was OK. 7:40 p.m. — A caller reported a possible intox- icated driver on the 500 block of 16th Street, La Grande. An offi cer checked and found the vehicle unoccupied. 9:43 p.m. — A La Grande caller on the 2700 block of Empire Drive reported a vehicle blocking the driveway. Norma Jean (Wood) Goldsby January 25, 1931 - November 19, 2020 Norma Jean (Wood) Goldsby passed away peacefully on November 19 , 2020. She suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for sev- eral years and had a stroke. Norma was born in Solider, Iowa on January 25th 1931. She and her family moved to Lebanon, Oregon in the early 1940s. Upon graduation from Lebanon High School she worked as a bookkeeper for a local accounting firm. Norma started dating Carl D. Goldsby in December of 1952, engaged on the following Valentine’s Day and married May 3, 1953 in Lebanon, Oregon at Norma’s parents’ home. Norma adopted Carl’s daughter, Diane. The adoption was one of the first adoptions granted with- out the agreement of the living natural parent in the State of Oregon. Carl and Norma moved from Salem to Klamath Falls in the Summer of 1960. Norma was very involved in Professional Women Toastmasters, Red Cross Bloodmobile Chairperson and was a Girl Scout Leader. They moved to La Grande in 1964 where Norma became active in Eastern Star. She en- joyed serving as several Star Points. Carl and Norma discovered a joy in motorcycle touring and traveled all states west of the Mississippi as well as Canada. They logged over 500,000 miles together. She was Presi- dent of the BMW Riders of Oregon and then become an Ambassador for the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America. Norma was also a volunteer at the La Grande Chamber of Commerce. She was a loving dachshund dog Mom, an avid genealogy researcher and she loved crocheting Afghans for family mem- bers. After losing Carl, she moved to Vancouver, WA in 2009 to be closer to her daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in November 1999, and her two brothers, Harry and Lee. Norma is survived by her daughter, Diane Goldsby of Vancouver, WA, and her granddaughter, Karlee Mink of Kirkland, WA. She also has several nieces and nephews in the Lebanon, OR area. She was a devoted wife, a protective loving mother and a jiggly-playful grandmother. She will be laid to rest beside her hus- band, Carl, in Hillcrest East Cemetery in La Grande, OR.
