CHURCHILL HAUNTED STUDIOS
Test your mettle at the Haunted Studios ...
and hear your psychic reading
■ ■ Seba the psychic joins the fun at Churchill’s haunted house starting Oct. 23
BAKER CITY — A chance meet-
ing led Christine Teegarden to dip
deep into the history of tarot cards,
and this month she debuts as Seba
the psychic.
Her tent will be set up at
Churchill School, in conjunction
with the Haunted Studios tours,
beginning Oct. 23.
The meeting that led to this was
between Teegarden and Corrine
Vegter, who owns Churchill with
her husband, Brian. Although it
was only March, Corrine was in the
midst of planning for a haunted
house this fall.
“I was wearing an outfit that
looked gypsy-esque,” Teegarden
said. “She asked me if I by chance
knew how to read tarot.”
She answered, “No — but I could
probably learn it.”
And she did. This fall Teegarden
also built a tent and persona to give
a full performance as Seba.
“Honestly, there’s a lot to it,” she
said of tarot. “I’m not a practiced
reader.”
But she is a willing student. Over
the years she has studied various
religions, and learned Arabic and
Islam as a linguist with the U.S. Air
Force. She also likes sciences.
Tarot, she said, is about symbol-
ogy and patterns, which cards come
up and how they correlate to each
other.
“I put a lot of time into it because
I don’t take it lightly,” she said.
Here is how Teegarden is de-
scribing her alter-ego as Seba:
“Spiritually inclined seeker
from the start; seeking truth, light,
wisdom, peace and joy. Linguist by
trade, where my name Seba was
given to me meaning ‘of the light’ or
to do with youth/morning. I believe

The Haunted Studios continue at Churchill School, and will add a
psychic to the experience.
in one God or one ‘source,’ and that
there is great deception at work
in the world but that with clarity,
strength and an openness to grow
through your life’s lessons, this
earthbound experience has more to
offer than most would guess.
“Tarot is but a tool providing a
window into the spiritual layers of
reality — I pray for the Holy Spirit
to speak to me, through cards and
otherwise, that I may give guidance
where I’m guided to give it. Always,
with love.”
As for her props, Teegarden
credits an ethic inherited from her
father to go full-tilt into a project
— especially one that benefits the
community.
“We’re really about community
and getting involved,” she said. “If
you ask us to do something, you’ll
get the extreme version.”
Her psychic tent will be set up
near the entrance to the haunted
studios during the last two week-
ends in October. Cost is $5 per
reading, which lasts about 10 min-
utes. All proceeds will go to support
Churchill School.
Brian and Corrine Vegter have
transformed the basement of
