Start on holiday card contest ■ Deadline to enter is July 6 BAKER CITY — Crossroads Carnegie Art Center is inviting local and regional artists to submit artwork for the winter holiday card contest. The subject is open to the artist’s interpretation of the winter holiday season. All media types will be accepted. The winning submission receives a $100 prize and two packs of cards. The artist of the winning card design will own copyright and ownership of the original image fi le. The source artwork will be framed by Crossroads and donated to a fundraiser to promote the holiday cards that support the Hand-to- Heart Scholarship Fund. The winning artwork also will be reproduced and used on the offi cial 2020 Crossroads holiday card. Proceeds from the sale of the cards will go to support Crossroads programs. DETAILS AND DATES TO REMEMBER •฀ The contest is open to profes- sional and amateur artists age 18 and older. Submis- sions are due to Crossroads by 5 p.m. July 6. •฀ All artwork must be original. •฀ Minimum size 3x5 inches, maximum 12x18 inches. •฀ For 2-D artwork bigger than 12x18 and all 3-D work, submit a high-quality digital image along with the origi- nal work. •฀ Artwork is to be submitted without a frame and in a protective sleeve or paper. •฀ Signatures are to be kept modest. •฀ No lettering on the images. •฀ More than one entry may be submitted. Each entry must be accompanied by a signed entry form. •฀ Crossroads will photograph the winning submission for reproduction. The image must photograph or scan well for reproduction. •฀ The card will be printed as a 5x7-inch image. The fi nal image will have a border to fi t to size. Original artwork remains the copyright of the winner. The source artwork winner that comes to Crossroads will be framed courtesy of the art center and auctioned off at Oktoberfest with proceeds going to the Hand-to-Heart Scholarship fund. The artist agrees to allow his or her name to appear on the fi nished card and promotional material and gives Crossroads permission to reproduce and sell cards in the gallery for up to one year. Musicians perform live to an online audience ■ Churchill shares live concerts on Facebook BAKER CITY — Concerts and large gatherings are still on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. But that doesn’t stop the music. Musicians are turning to the internet to share tunes with the world. Now, Churchill in Baker City is hosting a weekly event called “in your house parties.” For these virtual house par- ties, musicians will perform on the Churchill Dancehall stage with the live music streamed through Churchill’s Facebook page. Search for Churchill School Art, Music, Recreation- Baker City, OR. On May 14, James Dean Kindle will perform at 7 p.m. The following day, May 15, will feature Elwood at 4 p.m. If you can’t tune in live, the concerts may be enjoyed in the video section of the Facebook page. The house parties are funded partially by the Eastern Oregon Visitors Association.
