JOB SUMMARY
It is the sander/grader re-
sponsibility to consistently
and uniformly sand panels
while maintaining tolerance
requirements, to produce a
quality panel at a high level
of production. Also responsi-
ble for maintaining the proper
condition of sander belts and
smoothing bars, operate and
maintain Argos grading sys-
tem, nail grid pattern sprayer,
edge printer and labeler. It is
expected of all sander/graders
to continuously upgrade their
abilities and to enhance their
job knowledge to achieve a
high level of proficiency.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Demonstrate safe behaviors
at all times.
-Understand equipment oper-
ation, areas of responsibility
and hazards in the work area.
-Operate the sander/grader
components to maintain a lev-
el of production.
-Monitor and adjust the sand-
er system to produce a quali-
ty-finished panel.
-Monitor and adjust the grad-
ing/marking system to produce
a quality-finished panel that is
properly labeled.
-Perform thickness, width and
shift changeovers and accu-
rately record data.
-Communicate with supervi-
sor on quality of product being
sanded and suggestions to
meet established targets.
-Perform all administrative du-
ties as required.
-Monitor inventory of belts and
sander supplies and notify pur-
chasing when low.
-Perform house-keeping func-
tions to maintain a safe and
efficient work area in the grade
shack, inside the sander, area
surrounding sander.
-Assist with plant downtime
and maintenance day activi-
ties as assigned.
-Recognize and respond to up-
set conditions as necessary.
-Monitor ongoing operation of
equipment to detect malfunc-
tion or need for adjustment.
Report to supervisor and/or
maintenance.
-Effectively utilize and adhere
to established communication
methods and practices.
-Assist and train co-workers as
assigned.
