Urban Renewal Program Extends Deadline for Call for Projects
Funding Applications
La Grande, OR -- Each fiscal year, the La Grande Urban Renewal
Agency (URA) has a limited amount of funding to allocate toward
public/ private development projects within the Urban Renewal Dis-
trict. Understanding that some projects may need more time to be
developed due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, the URA will be
extending the Call for Projects grant application deadline to May 1,
2020 at 5 pm. Applications received after this deadline will not be
accepted.
Application forms and information packets are be available online at
http://www.cityoflagrande.org/muraProjects/muraLAG/lagcity/index.
cfm/city-offices/community-development/. You may also request a
packet via email by contacting Kendra VanCleave at KVanCleave@
cityoflagrande.org. In order to be considered for Urban Renewal
funding, potential projects must be located within the Urban Renew-
al District, apply to physical building or site improvements (generally
limited to exterior improvements only) and be ready for construction
and completed between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. Funding is
limited to the amount budgeted by the URA. This will be a compet-
itive round of funding; there is no guarantee all qualified applicants
will receive funding.
Questions should be directed to Christine Jarski, Economic Devel-
opment Director; 541-962-1307 or cjarski@cityoflagrande.org.

YOUR BIRTHDAY by Stella Wilder
Born today, you are known for being up-
front, down-to-earth, straightforward, honest
and uncompromising -- and your participa-
tion is sought by others in a wide variety of
endeavors. To have someone like you on a
team is often a primary need when someone
is devising a strategy for success. You are
known for contributing so much of value that
you may actually become somewhat mythical
in reputation, considered by some to be inca-
pable of anything but the most remarkable,
resounding success.
MONDAY, MARCH 23
ARIES (March 21-April 19) -- It’s not
likely to take much for someone to goad you
into doing what you really don’t want to do.
You must be on your guard all day long.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20) -- You’re
likely to finish something well ahead of
schedule, leaving yourself time to double-
check your work and enjoy a little bit of a
break.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20) -- You’re eager
to see where your current path will lead you,
but you’re not willing to take too many risks
along the way. This requires planning.
CANCER (June 21-July 22) -- You may
receive a warning from someone who has
been through what you are considering
doing. By day’s end, your eagerness may well
have waned.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) -- What you are
about to do will be more than a mere diver-
sion, it will be something that teaches you a
great deal about the situation you are cur-
rently in.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) -- You fear you
may have reached the point of no return, but
that moment is still quite far away. You have
room to maneuver today, surely.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) -- The goals you
have set for yourself are surely realistic, but
there are a few that may require adjustment
today as your skills improve.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) -- You know
the drill, and you know what is expected of
MONDAY, MARCH 23, 2020
YOUR BIRTHDAY by Stella Wilder
Born today, you are considered by many to
be something of a force of nature, and indeed,
it takes more than the usual obstacles to trip
you up, and there is virtually nothing imagin-
able that can stop you cold. You will push
forward, confident that your strength and
ability will see you through. You have a habit
of thinking yourself better than others, and
though it may be true -- in some things, not
all! -- it’s not very becoming to let it be known
that you believe it.
TUESDAY, MARCH 24
ARIES (March 21-April 19) -- Take care
that you don’t wind up where you don’t want
to be today simply because you couldn’t
expend the energy necessary to get moving.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20) -- A friend
comes to you with what he or she thinks is a
problem, but you recognize that it’s really a
situation you wouldn’t mind being in.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20) -- A little self-
indulgence goes a long way today. You don’t
want to be guilty of that which you criticize
someone else for doing, do you?
CANCER (June 21-July 22) -- You must
maintain control of your emotions today, lest
you make a bad situation worse by losing
your cool at a pivotal moment. Keep calm!
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) -- You know you’re
worthy of praise, but you may not receive that
which you had hoped for today. Is this a case
of overweening pride?
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) -- You’ve done
a good job of keeping your emotions in check
when faced with something -- or someone --
you want. You reach a critical point today.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) -- Your acquisi-
tive nature can lead you to trouble today if
you begin to take more than you deserve.
Why not see where generosity gets you?
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) -- You’ve
been walking in someone else’s shoes for a

you and what you can expect to gain from
cooperating. But is it worth it?
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) -- You
must ask yourself many questions today in
order to come up with the one answer that
will make all the difference to you right now.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) -- You are
aware of someone’s desires, but you’re not
willing to put your own on a back burner to
satisfy them. It’s about you right now!
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) -- You may
only complicate matters today by offering
information that isn’t asked for. Stick to what
is really required by all concerned.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20) -- You’re
more than curious about what another is
doing -- you simply must know, and soon!
Ask around, and you’re sure to learn a few
things.

while now, but today you may realize that it’s
bringing out an unbecoming stinginess.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) --
What you see isn’t always what you get -- and
today this is likely to be true on more than
one occasion. Your faith may be tested.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) --
Though the evidence may not warrant a
hopeful stance, it’s really the only way you can
face a certain situation. A friend intervenes.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) -- You may
be called upon to step in and negotiate a deli-
cate concord between warring parties. This is
something only you can do, in fact.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20) -- You may
have to take a more aggressive approach to a
problem that simply refuses to be resolved.
Others aren’t helping any, to be sure.
