Liven up your winter with art
classes at the Josephy Center
■ ■ Workshops offered in ceramics and painting for various ages
JOSEPH — The Josephy Center
for Arts and Culture in Joseph is
expanding its roster of art classes
and workshops for all ages in 2020.
Here is a schedule of what’s coming
up this winter:
A free Family Art Class is held
every Saturday from 10-11 a.m.,
and a free Mommy and Me class
with Kellee Sheehy is on Thurs-
days from 9-10 a.m.
Ongoing weekly classes starting
back up for adults include Painting
with Kodi McCleary on Mondays
from 5-7 p.m.; Figure Drawing
with Pam Beach on Wednesdays
from 6-8 p.m.; Clay Class with Pam
Beach on Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 4-7 p.m.; and Open Studio
with Jennifer Klimsza on Fridays
from 2-4 p.m.
Among the winter workshops
are Abstract Painting with Jen-
nifer Klimsza, Jan. 12; The Art of
Scrimshaw by Terri Rice, Jan. 18;
Oil Painting Guided Practice with
Anna Vogel (theme is Sunset on the
Hills), Jan. 18-19; Needle-Felted
Birds with Janet Hohmann, Jan.
25; and Plateau-Style Beading with
Roger Amerman, Feb. 7-9.
YOUTH ART FRIDAY
The 2020 winter Youth Art Fri-
day sessions begin Jan. 10. A new
instructor this year is Pam Beach,
who has more than 20 years of
experience in ceramics.
“I’m always impressed with the
artwork coming out of the ceramics
studio,” said Megan Wolfe, Jose-
phy’s Friday Youth Art program
coordinator.
Several clay classes are offered.
There are two one-hour sessions
of Clay 1 (for ages 7-11), at 10 a.m.
and 11:30 p.m. Clay 2 (for ages 12-
17) meets from 1-2:30 p.m.
Drawing and painting classes
include Draw and Paint with Mary
from 10-11 a.m., for ages 5-7; Draw
and Paint with Kodi from 11:15
a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for ages 8-12;
and an Open Studio for teens and
adults from 2-4 p.m.
