Boys hoops: Eagles finish three-day road trip with 2-1 mark

LA GRANDE — Hadley Miller
scored 13 of his game-high 19 points
in the second half Saturday as the
Joseph Eagles boys basketball team
pulled away for a 59-47 road win
over the St. Paul Buckaroos.
The teams were tied after one
quarter, 12-12, and at halftime, 24-
24, before Joseph found an offen-
sive spark to earn the win. Miller
had nine points in the third as the
Eagles inched ahead 43-39, and
stayed hot in the fourth.
Hayden Hite added 12 points,
and Mason Ferre had 10 points.
The Eagles (7-3 overall) face
Crane Thursday in Pendleton.
OUTLAWS BOUNCE BACK
Enterprise rebounded from its loss
to Nixyaawii Friday with a 66-59 win
over Condon/Wheeler on Saturday at
the Winter Classic in Mission.
Devin Greer scored a team-high
25 points for Enterprise, while
teammates Flynn Nave and Cason
Kirkland added 13 points apiece.
The Outlaws, who were ahead
only 36-33 at the half, were up 50-45
after three and held on from there.
The Outlaws (4-3 overall) host
Pilot Rock Friday to begin Blue
Mountain Conference play.
COUGARS HAVE ROUGH OUTING
Wallowa struggled with a short
turnaround Saturday at the Bouncin’
Cancer Tournament in Echo and fell
to the Ione/Arlington Cardinals 74-31.
Ione/Arlington raced out to an
early 15-point fi rst-quarter lead and
continued to pile it on. The Cardinals
outscored the Cougars 29-9 in the
second to take a 46-11 lead at the
half and led by 45 after three.
Tristin Bales scored 11 points and
Zeb Hermens added eight for the
Cougars.
Wallowa (4-6 overall) heads to
Pine Eagle Saturday to begin Old
Oregon League play.
BOBCATS CLIPPED BY GOLDEN
EAGLES
The Union Bobcats hung with
the defending 1A state champion
Nixyaawii Golden Eagles Saturday,
but ultimately fell short at the Win-
ter Classic in Mission, 64-57.
Nixyaawii grabbed the early lead
and held it throughout. The Golden
Eagles led 27-19 at the half and 41-
34 after three quarters, and held on
in a high-scoring fourth that saw
each team score 23 points.
Keegan Glenn scored 23 points to
lead Union, including 13 points in the
fourth quarter. Jace Phillips added 21

Chase Murray went off for 25
points Friday to lead the Joseph
Eagles to a 51-35 road win over the
Perrydale Pirates.
Murray scored 15 of his points
in the fi rst half to help the Eagles
build a 28-19 halftime lead. Joseph
built its lead to 40-29 after three
and added on in the fourth.
Carson Littlepage added 12
points for the Eagles.
