Kevin Hooks plays the son, who must help his mother (Cicely Tyson) after his father (Paul Winfield) is jailed for stealing meat to feed the starving family. The youth then meets a schoolteacher (Janet MacLachlan) who introduces him to a larger world. 8 p.m. on TLC Say Yes to the Dress America In this new 10-episode docu-series, 52 brides — one from each state, plus Wash- ington, D.C., and Puerto Rico — are se- lected for an all-expenses-paid trip to New York. The actress stars as event planner Chelsea Whitmore, who impulsively quits her job and moves to Vail after inheriting a chalet there (as one does). As she ponders her next career move, Chelsea falls under the spell of this magical locale and its residents, especially handsome Owen Becker (Tyler Hynes). 9 p.m. on SHOW Movie: The Upside Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart might seem like unlikely co-stars, but then that’s a character point in director Neil Burger’s hit 2017 dramedy about a paralyzed bil- lionaire (Cranston) who hires a recently paroled convict (Hart) to take care of him.
