From the U.K. comes this 2018 comedy
movie about a troubled young Glasgow
woman (Jessie Buckley) who dreams of
becoming a country music star in Nashville.
Matt Costello, Jane Patterson and Lesley Hart
are also in the cast for director Tom Harper.
“The Day Shall Come” (Dec. 27)
A preacher in an impoverished Miami
community becomes the unwitting
target of an FBI sting in this 2019
dark comedy from writer/director
Chris Morris (“Four Lions”). Andrei
McPherson, Anna Kendrick and Miles
Robbins star.

“Killing Eve”
Season 2 of this darkly comedic spy thriller
continues the cat-and-mouse game between
obsessive British intelligence officer Eve
(Sandra Oh) and her quarry, assassin Villanelle
(Jodie Comer) that ends with the apparent
shooting death in the last episode. But given
that the series was renewed for a third round,
it’s a good bet that party survives.
“Better Things” (Dec. 28)
The complete third season of the FX
comedy about a single mom and actress
(Pamela Adlon) trying to raise three
daughters while pursuing a career in
Hollywood comes to the streaming
service.
“Movie: The Kid”
“Law & Order: Criminal Intent” actor
Vincent D’Onofrio stepped behind the
camera for this 2019 Western about a boy
(newcomer Jake Schur) who forms an unlikely
alliance with Sheriff Pat Garrett (Ethan
Hawke) and outlaw Billy the Kid (Dane
DeHaan) to rescue his sister (Leila George,
D’Onofrio’s daughter) from his thuggish
uncle, a local gang leader (Chris Pratt).
“Wonder Park” (Dec. 29)
This animated 2019 feature tells the
story of an amusement park where the
vivid imagination of a wildly creative girl
comes alive. Sofia Mali, Jennifer Garner,
John Oliver and Mila Kunis are among
those in the voice cast.

“Movie: Loro”
From Italy and director Paolo Sorrentino
(“This Must Be the Place”) comes this 2018
drama that offers a character study of Italian
politician and media mogul Silvio Berlusconi
(Toni Servillo, “The Great Beauty”) during
a turbulent period in his career and personal
life. Elena Sofia Ricci, Riccardo Scamarcio
and Kasia Smutniak also star.
