    C HRISTOPHER W OODWORTH
Christopher Michael Woodworth is no stranger to adversity.
The death of his mother just before his fifth birthday, followed by
acclimating to his new mother, Joli, within one year, moved him
to develop adaptability to changing circumstances. Being the
youngest of six children, followed by three more children joining
the Woodworth family, has taught Chris to share space and time
with others and has taught him unselfishness.
He has always been generally cheerful and able to face challenges
with a “can-do” attitude. His education has been eclectic, with
some public school, some home school, some private Christian
school, and more recently, the switch to early college. Even his
sports career has embodied changes, such as the switch from
soccer to football in the eighth grade.
Chris has often had the challenge of standing alone spiritually, with certain choices regarding dat-
ing and other lifestyle decisions that have often differed from the culture at large. He has publicly
identified with Jesus Christ in baptism, has been an active member at Grace Bible Church, and has
been actively involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Facing the necessity of working for pay in the summer, and in a lesser way, throughout the school
year, has taught him that a good work ethic and a proper use of time is invaluable. This work ethic
has overlapped with his studies and sports as well. Chris started wrestling at the age of 10 and has
progressed through the rigors of La Grande Mat Club, Middle School and High School practices,
showing improvement every year, with all those years of hard work resulting in a state champion-
ship his junior year.
He missed his eighth grade year due to an ankle injury, and part of his junior year due to a concus-
sion, but has persevered through these injuries as well, embodying a joyful, team-oriented attitude.
Chris often doesn’t get the spotlight, but when he does, he has been able to be humble about it.
His future goals are to possibly participate in football in college and pursue a pre-medical or
pre-dental program. He, as well as the rest of the Woodworth family would like to thank the coach-
es, the teachers, the parents, and other supportive members of the La Grande community that have
all played a role in Chris’s success, on and off the mat.
