11 Wednesday, December 11, 2019 GO! magazine — A&E in Northeast Oregon Story of Scrooge’s redemption warms hearts in Elgin ■ Charles Dickens’ 1843 classic can be seen at the Hale Turner Little Theatre in Elgin through Dec. 22 ELGIN — Charles Dickens’ festive classic “A Christmas Carol” opened Dec. 6 at the Hale Turner Little Theatre in Elgin. The staged reading of Dickens’ beloved and heart-warming story runs through Dec. 22. Friday shows are at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday performances are at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The run ends with a special matinee on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $17 for all seats. The miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, his clerk Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come have en- thralled readers since 1843 when ‘I love Christmas, tradition and Dickens — and this story has all three.’ — Grant Turner, director the fi rst edition of Dickens’ novel sold out in fi ve days. “I love Christmas, tradition and Dickens — and this story has all Starting Dec. 9th STORE CLOSING!!! 50% OFF EVERYTHING three,” said Grant Turner, director of the production and Elgin Opera House’s associate artistic director. “Dickens believed that we can always change for the better and that the path to redemption involves connecting with, relying on and caring for the other people around you. I believe that too.” This is a Friends of the Opera House production. “A Christmas Carol” showcases the talents of vet- eran actors Kevin Cahill, Zaquarie Mendenhall, Rose Peacock, Wylie Peacock, Connor Purtzer, Anne Turner, Grant Turner and Nicole Turner.
