First Friday shows open Dec. 6 in Baker City BRODERICK GALLERY 1940 VALLEY AVE. Broderick Gallery will display an exhibit titled “Straight from Havana” featuring seven artists living in Havana, Cuba. This exhibit will demonstrate the variety of artistic styles employed by Cuban artists. The public is invited. Her opening reception will be Friday at 5:30 p.m. Litke paints in her Quail Crossing Studio in Haines and teaches a “Learn to Love Watercolors and Pastels” class every Wednesday at Baker City’s Crossroads Carnegie Art Center. CROSSROADS CARNEGIE ART CENTER 2020 AUBURN AVE. “Christmas at Crossroads — The Gift of Art” continues through December. A reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. At Friday’s event expect cheerful music and light refreshments. Visitors will be entered into a drawing for $25 at Sorbenots. This open show features the artwork of local and regional artists. CHURCHILL HALL PASS GALLERY 3451 BROADWAY ST. Boise artist Jeff Leedy will be featured at Churchill’s Hall Pass Gallery. One of Leedy’s life goals has been to spread laughter in the world. “Originally with my art, I thought I was just making you laugh,” the artist writes on his website. “I was mistaken. What hap- pened was that my art made people happy. You see, when you’re laughing, it’s really hard to be depressed.”
