Hunt ❢❣✐✐❦♠q①②②❦ ③④⑤③⑥⑦⑧③⑨ Russel Alec Hunt, 67, of Summerville, died Nov. 9, 2018. A celebra- tion of his life will be held at 2 p.m. May 18 at the Baker City Chris- tian Church. Known as Russ, he was born April 20, 1951, in Ritz- ville, Washington, to Ross and Violet (Ged- des) Hunt. They moved to Haines when Russ was 11. He was active in Boy Scouts and was awarded Eagle Scout in 1966. Russ graduated from Baker High School in 1969, and in 1970 he joined the U.S. Navy, completing 5-1/2 years of service as a Navy mu- sician. Russ married Sharon McLean in 1974, and the marriage was dis- solved within a year. He married Joan Bagley McClure in 1975. They moved to Haines and a son, Daniel, was born in 1977. The marriage was dissolved in 1996. In 1988, Russ com- pleted bachelor de- grees in both nursing and psychology from OHSU and Eastern Or- egon University. He returned to the Navy, commissioning into the Naval Officer Corps as a nurse, and retired as a lieutenant commander in 2003. Russ earned a mas- ter’s degree in nurs- ing in 1991. From 1991 to 1997, he taught for OHSU on the EOU cam- pus and was also a stu- dent adviser. He worked in community mental health in Harney, Lake, Baker and Umatilla counties and began a part-time, then full- time, private practice. Russ scaled that back for four years to provide psychiatric care for the VA Clinic in La Grande, then retired from fed- eral service in 2013 and returned to private practice full-time. In 2002, Russ mar- ried Anita Enneberg. They did everything together. Russ loved his family and friends and his work. He loved playing music, flying his airplane, hunting and fishing, and talk- ing to people about the Lord. Russ was a long-time member of the National Association for Rural Mental Health. In more recent years, being a member of the Navy Musicians Association reconnected him with shipmates from long ago. He was a member of the Elgin Christian Church. Surviving relatives include his wife, Anita Hunt of Summerville; sons and daughters- in-law, Daniel and Joy Hunt of Elgin, Ross Kemp of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Lane and Katrina Kemp of Biloxi, Mississippi; brothers, Eugene Hunt and wife, Rhea, and Robert Hunt; six grandchildren; and many nieces and neph- ews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Violet Hunt, and a brother, Daniel.
