Animal control per-

were standing in mud.
In January, sheriff’s
deputy Corey Putney
drove by the residence
and saw a dead horse
whose corpse wasn’t
disposed of properly
and also saw horses that
were beginning to look
unwell.

“We had the original painting
scanned by our friend Clark at
Cracked Melon,” Lundquist said.
“We then made 400 limited edition
prints, which were printed and do-
nated by Lafe Bissell and the Lynx
Group. Then it was time to pack up
the camper and hit the road.”
In February, Lundquist and his
partner, Laura Zambrano, along
with their dog, Tocayo, decided
to take 200 signed and numbered
prints and head to California.
Looking for bands on tour in that
area, Lundquist found Dark Star
Orchestra, a Grateful Dead expe-
rience band that plays songs from
the Grateful Dead repertoire.
Lundquist then spoke with the
band’s representative and was
invited to sell his prints at their
three upcoming concerts.
Now he had a venue, so he and
Zambrano braved treacherous
winter weather to reach Paradise.
“Traveling was scary,” Zambrano
said. “But I knew we were doing

this for a good reason.”
Once they arrived on Feb.
12, they spent two days look-
ing around and were shocked at
the catastrophic devastation in
Paradise. The city had gone from

pitiful sight fueled Lundquist’s
passion for his mission to help
the displaced people of Paradise.
Touching base with DSO,
Lundquist and Zambrano set up
a booth at three of their concerts,
starting on Feb. 14 in Durham,
California, and on Feb. 15 and 16

victims.
“A big thank-you to Dark Star
Orchestra for doing that and
taking us under their wing,”
Lundquist said.
As a bonus to the print sales
at the Durham show, Lundquist
and Zambrano made friends
and allies in this ongoing proj-
ect. Among them was a woman
whom Lundquist called Sharon,
who lost her home in Paradise,
and she has been their boots on
the ground ever since, distribut-
ing generous funds from the sales
of his prints hand-to-hand to

After
Lundquist
and
Zambrano returned home, they
sent out another 100 prints to the
local Chico, California, radio sta-
tion KZFR to help broadcast this
project and help distribute the
prints to others. Another band,

sign and number.”
At a minimum of $25 dona-
tion per print, Lundquist said
the prints will raise $12,000 alto-
gether.
“I wish we could add another
zero on the end of that, but it’s
something,” he said.
Lundquist is now launching a
local campaign for print sales and
