Gary Parker Baldwin, 68,
of La Grande, died April 16
at his residence. A celebra-
tion of his life

at Loveland Fu-
neral Chapel.
Gary
was
born Dec. 21,
1950, in Pendle-
ton, to James and
Mary
(Parker)
Baldwin. He attended Baker
High School. Gary served in
the U.S. Army 2nd Battalion,
35th Artillery and in Viet-
nam in 1971. He was married
to Susan R. Smith.
Gary was awarded the
National Defense Service
Medal, Vietnam Service
Medal with a Bronze Service
Star, Representative to Viet-
nam Campaign Medal and
Marksman (M-16) award.
He was a life member of the
American Legion.
Gary was the custodian at
Eastern Oregon University
for 20 years until his retire-

working in his yard, camp-
ing and, especially, watching
football.
Survivors include his wife,
Susan; stepchildren and
spouses, Casey and Brandi

Grande; six children; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Linda
and Homer Gentry of Baker
City, Tanna and Allen Mor-
ris of Richland and Jean and
Fred Hansen of Pensacola,
Florida; 13 grandchildren
and one great-grandchild;
and numerous nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, James and
Mary Baldwin.

announced that ballots
for its board of directors’
elections have been sent
to the membership. Three
positions on the OTEC
board are up for election at
the 31st annual member-
ship meeting set to take
place May 4 at the Grant
County Fairgrounds in
John Day. Candidates on
the ballot this year are in-
cumbents Greg Howard
(Union County), Dave
Baum (Union County)
and Charlene Chase (Bak-

OTEC voting members

deliver them at the annual

Annual health fest
events have peaked pub-
lic awareness and are
part of the campaign to
help families make their
health a priority, Weer
said.
“(There has been) an
increase in attendance
over the past years,” she
said. “We were excited
last year to have several
Wallowa families at-
tend.”
Weer said they can
provide
transporta-
tion help for participat-
ing Wallowa families if
needed They may con-
tact Building Healthy
Families and request a
gas card, which will help
them make the round
trip to the Health Fest.
Last year’s attendance
was about 65 kids for the
two-day event. “Our at-
tendance goal this year
is about 75, and if we can
get 25 to 30 well-child
visits done right at the
events, that would be
great,” she added.

Joe Beans hosts
live music event
LA GRANDE — Joe
Beans, 1009 Adams
Ave., La Grande, will
host a special night of
live music featuring
singer-songwriter Steve
Campbell beginning at
7 p.m. April 24. Camp-
bell’s set will showcase
original music from his al-
bum as well as some not-
yet-released titles. Guest
musicians Earl Davis and
James Franke will bring
“cover songs everybody
love” from rock, country,
pop and blues. The eve-
ning will also include door
prize drawings. The cover
charge is $5 per person.
