Haines School was built in 1919. The gymnasium was built in 1931 and was used until 1945, which was the last graduating class from Haines. After that, older students were bused to North Pow- der or Baker City. The City of Haines ac- quired the gymnasium in 1959 and gave it to the museum to create a per- manent exhibit for Haines history. Eastern Oregon Museum celebrates its 60th anniver- sary in June. This summer’s special display will focus on the rural schools of the ✝✆ ★✖✩✩✡✞✔ ville; and 10 grandchil- dren and seven great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
