Class teaches life-
saving techniques
LA GRANDE — The La
Grande Fire Department
will host a free Stop the
Bleed/hands-only
CPR
class at 6 p.m. March 25
at the station house, 1806
Cove Ave. The class pro-
vides training for prop-
erly applying a tourniquet
as well as how to perform
hands-only CPR.
The total class time is
approximately an hour to
90 minutes and both the
LGFD and Grande Ronde
Hospital are willing to teach
it wherever and whenever.
A similar class has been
hosted at area organiza-
tions including the local
school districts, Union
County Search and Res-
cue and the Union County

conference
BAKER CITY — Oregon
Trail Electric Cooperative
is funding a new scholar-
ship opportunity for high
school sophomores to
spend a week on the cam-
pus of the College of Idaho
developing leadership and
team-building skills.
Up to six sophomores
from Baker, Grant, Har-
ney and Union counties
will have an opportunity
to attend the 32nd annual
Idaho Consumer Owned
Utilities
Association’s
Youth Rally July 15-20 in
Caldwell. OTEC will pay
all expenses for students.
As in all other OTEC
scholarships, the program
is funded from interest
earned on unclaimed capi-
tal credits.
Participants experience
a week of classes and ac-
tivities that promote posi-
tive relationships, learn
more about how our gov-
ernment works, receive
drug and alcohol aware-
ness training and discuss
changes in the electric/
energy industry, all that
along with developing
teamwork and communi-
cation skills.
The program includes a
tour of the Idaho State Cap-
itol, guest speakers, team-
building activities and a
visit to the Roaring Springs

WALLOWA — The 15th
annual Wallowa Tunes
Fiddle Camp will be held
at the Wallowa School July
8-13. Sponsored by the
Wallowa Valley Music Al-
liance, the week-long day
camp is a small, inexpen-
sive and family-oriented
music workshop focused
on traditional string in-
struments.
Week-long
classes are $200. There
is a discount for families
of four or more. Classes
are held in the elemen-
tary wing of the Wallowa
School, core classes from 9
a.m. to noon and electives
in the afternoon, Monday
through Friday. There will
be plenty of time for prac-
tice and jam sessions.

Terre Haute and in Herm-
iston, Portland, Enterprise
and La Grande. Jeri grad-
uated from Terre Haute
North Vigo High School.
She served in the U.S. Air
Gilliland and they were
married for 32 years.
Jeri was employed at
Pendleton Woolen Mills,
Terry Trailers and Depart-
ment of Human Services,
where she counseled dis-
abled couples. She enjoyed
photography and horse-
back riding. Jeri’s great-
