Oregon, for the County of Union, sitting for the transaction of County business, begun and held
at the Joseph Building Annex in the City of La Grande, in said County and State, on Wednesday
of said month and the time fixed by law for holding a regular term of said Commission, when
were present:
LET IT BE KNOWN TO ALL PERSONS of Union County that discrimination in the sale, rental, lease,
advertising of sale, rental or lease, financing of housing or land to be used for construction of housing,
or in the provision of brokerage, or rental services because of race, color, sex, disability (physical or
mental), familial status (children) or national origin is prohibited by Title VIII of the federal Fair Housing
Amendments Act of 1988. It is the policy of Union County to support the Fair Housing Amendments Act
of 1988 and to implement a Fair Housing Program to-ensure equal opportunity in housing for all per-
sons regardless of race, color, religion, sex, disability (physical and mental), familial status (children or
national origin). Therefore, the County does hereby pass the following Resolution:
BE IT RESOLVED that within the resources available to the County through city, county, state, federal

criminated against because of race, color, religion, disability (physical and mental), familial status

or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Seattle Regional Office Compliance
Division, that they may seek equity under federal and state laws.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County shall publicize this Resolution and through this publicity
shall cause real estate brokers and sellers, private home sellers, rental owners, rental property manag-

include, but not be limited to: 1) the printing, publicizing and distribution of this Resolution; 2) the dis-
tribution of posters, flyers, pamphlets and other applicable Fair Housing information provided by local,
state and federal sources, through local media of community contacts; and 3) the publicizing of loca-

YOUR BIRTHDAY by Stella Wilder
Born today, you are never afraid to press
forward and promote your agenda in new
and untried ways, as you are confident that it
will not only bring you the excitement and
hard work upon which you thrive, but also
the success you feel you deserve. You are also
never afraid, however, to look to the past for
inspiration; you study what has gone before
and build upon what others have done to
create something entirely new -- and are, in
most cases, quite successful.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 3
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) -- You
will want to assemble your thoughts with care
today before presenting them to anyone who
might prove critical. Stay focused.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) -- You must
be willing to immerse yourself in the details
of a given endeavor today if you want to
prove yourself to one of your mentors.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20) -- You will
have quite a task ahead of you today staying
on top of everything that is likely to transpire.
Writing things down proves helpful.
ARIES (March 21-April 19) -- You are
eager to find someone who is willing to work
closely with you on a pet project. He or she is
close at hand -- and you know it.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20) -- You can
find success today doing the very things that
yesterday proved successful. There’s no need
to shake things up or change things -- yet.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20) -- Something’s
coming, and you must ready yourself. Listen
to what the “experts” have to say by all means,
but be sure to trust your instincts.
CANCER (June 21-July 22) -- You should
be able to balance fun and safety quite nicely
today. There’s no need to stick your neck out;
a friend gives sound advice.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) -- You can have a
great deal of fun showing someone else what
you can do -- and you’ll accomplish some-
thing of value in the process.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) -- You stumble
onto something that is worth both time and
effort today. You may have to change your
plans in order to accommodate it, however.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) -- You are more
ready than you think you are, and when you
finally swing into action the competition is
going to have their hands full, surely!
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) -- You may
want someone to be by your side every step of
the way today -- but is that really possible? At
some points, you must go it alone.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) --
Wherever you offer input today there will be
those who doubt you -- but events will surely
prove that you know what you’re talking
about.
