6 Wednesday, January 1, 2020 GO! magazine — A&E in Northeast Oregon FROM THE COVER an inside look at northeast oregon’s arts and entertainment scene Bart Budwig releases new album ■ Musician will give concerts in La Grande and Enterprise during his January 2020 tour LA GRANDE — Bart Budwig, described as “one of Oregon’s best-kept secrets,” will release his latest album, “Another Burn on the Astroturf,” on Jan. 24 on the Portland label Fluff and Gravy. The musician, who lives in Enterprise, will have an LP release party with special guest Gregory Rawlins Jan. 3 at hq, 112 Depot St., La Grande. Admission is $8. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. All ages are welcome. According to promo- tional materials, Budwig “has created a string of impressive albums that borrow liberally from the outlaw and cosmic American songwriters of the 1970s.” Glide Magazine has this to say about the song “Human Again” from his new full-length album: “With a laid back, choogling groove, the song is a dreamy and cos- mic meditation on relationships. Budwig lends his gritty yet soulful vocals to a soundtrack brimming with rich instrumentation to make for a song that is, both lyrically and musically, a spiritually charged nugget of country-folk. “At times his music is reminis- cent of contemporaries like Phil Cook, Deer Tick and Hiss Golden Messenger, but his sound is also completely his own.” Budwig and his band will be intro- ducing the album up and down the West Coast throughout Janu- ary, including a stop at home for a Jan. 16 concert at the OK Theatre, 208 W. Main St. in Enterprise. O’Connor Lee, the Americana/ folk duo of Kate Lee and Forrest O’Connor, will open. Tickets are $15.
