biggest holiday and drinking rea
son, a Japanese newspaper today
published seven drinking rules lor
women.
"We do not think drinking is
bad but we don't like the sight
of drunken women." said the
newspiper Sankei Sliimbun. "Of
course.- the women would like to
hit back and say "how about
those drunken men.
"But women when drinking i
must be careful to preserve their
feminine traits. Compare! to men,
the drinking history of women is
short, indeed, and there have
been a lot of embarrassing" in

The newspaper then suggested
the following "musts' for women
who drink during the holiday
Don't have any false pride
and say you can drink when you
can't, or say modern women must
drink.
Beware of m?n who tell you
to drink because women are
charming when they have a few
drinks.
Don't forget yourself even if I
you drink and resort to obscene
talk. You might , find yourself
popular with the men at the time
but it will boomerang against you
later.
Don't spoil a drinking party
by staying in a corner or glaring
at those drinking ..(cave the room

in Oregon for 19S9 will be $3,838,

crease , of , 7.8 per cent over 1958
personal income in Oregon of $3.
557,000,000. The magazine also offered a
"New Year's prediction" of what
personal income will be at the
end of 1960. For Oregon Business
Week predicted the personal in-

away their fourth baby so they
could afford a television set have
decided against it because of
pressure from the neighbors.
"Dozens of people told us that
if we gave the child away 'You've
had it.' Well, you can't do with
out neighbors," said Bill Wil
liams. Williams, 35. makes $21 a week
as a landscae gardener.
"We have three boys." he said,
"that's all we wanted. It was
either keeping the baby that is
coming or getting the telly. I
couldn't afford both.
"But because of a slip of the
tongue the neighbors got to know.
There was hell to pay. So the
missus and I decided not to give
the child away and forget having
the telly."
