Z. lUPI' The Russians who reached the South Pole SEaturday plan to re turn to their base on the Indian Ocean without trying to complete a crossing of Antarctica, it was reported today. The Soviet party leaves the U. S. base at the Pole tonight or early Tuesday. The Russians plan a fast return trip, apparcntely hoping to cover the l.KiO-milc distance in about two weeks so as to reach their base while an expected ship is there.
