Tech's Yellow Jackets take their
poorest won-lost record in 14 bowl
appearances against Arkansas in
the Gator Bowl at Jacksonville.
Fla.. Jan. 2 but Arkansas root
ers should beware because that
record is deceptive.
This is not a great team by
Tech standards. But, it's a team
that capitalizes on opponents'
mistakes and, given an opportu
nity, can beat just about anybody.
The Yellow Jackets won six
games and lost four this past
season. They beat Kentucky,
Scut hern Methodist, Clcmson.
Tennessee, Tulane and Notre
Dame by margins ranging from
two to 10 points. They lost to
Auburn, Duke, Alabama and
Georgia by a combined total of

known for his ability to prepare
his team for big games. This is
his ninth Tech team to be invited
to a post-season bowl and he
hasn t lost one yet.
Corps. I found it fun and a chal
lenge. I got pointers from my
friends and develop?d my own
style . without ever learning the
fundamentals. Bowling six years
like that, I got so I could aver
age around 178 but I couldn't get
any higher.
"I -finally went to a very good
instructor, Paul Krumske. He had
me change my style radically. I
had to start all over again, with
four st ens. and with a lighter 14-pourd-
ball instead of my Im
pounder, in order to get proper
rhythm and the smooth, gliding
contact, of the ball on the alley
not the throwing drop I used to
give it."
Later,' after she had improved
her stylo, she returned to the
heavier ball and she has been
bowling in the high 180 s ever
since. She said she had an aver
age of "almost 200" during the
32-game finals of the tourney in
which z'..e beat out 64 contestants
last week.

The Ducks controlled both back
boards and picked off 49 re
bounds to San Jose's 30. Glenn
Moore had 14 rebounds for the
Ducks but was held to only four
points by Dennis Marc. .Moore
had gone into the game with a
22 plus average.
Charlie Warren ' and Dennie
Strickiaad took up the scoring
slaclf (fining 12 and 11 points re
spectively. Vic Barnes topped the visitors

with lime points.
