The licens? is identical to the
punch card used in previous years
and w i'l be good through the calen
der year. All salmon and steel
head taken which are 20 inches
in length or ovi r must be recorded
on the card. This punch card must
be returned to the game com
mission whether any fish were
taken or not at the end of the
calender year.
Landowners, who required no
license in the past to angle on
their own property, now require
the tl license in Addition to the
regular license if th-y plan to fish
lor salmon or steelhead. No li
cense will be required by land
owners if they angle for other
gsme lish.
All monies obtained from the
sale of the special license will be
used by the game commission
for salmon and steelhead research
and management.
High School Conservation Tests
Oregon studvnts will get an op
portunity to show their knowledge
of the principles' 'of natural re
source conservalirn, soils, water,
plant life and wildlife in a soon
to be administered test.
These questions and many more
may soon rie answerea wit.i a ran
dom sample of Oregon high school
students scheduled to participate
this winter in a pilot project aimed
at testing their conservation rea
soning. The test is designed to de
termine understanding of conserva
tion principles and at which grade
level students begin to develop
such understanding.
, The Slate Department of Educa-1
lion and the Oregon Game Com-!
mission are cooperating in the
administration of the test, designed
by the Conservation foundation of
New York and the Educational
Testing Service of New Jersey,
in the Oregon pilot study.
High schools of all sizes and in
all parts of the state have been
select' d for participation. Only a
portion of the total enrollment
in each school will be given the
lest.
Between 4000 and 5000 tests are
being given in he state, not more
than 120 students, from each
