Passing Aids
Oxford Win
LONDON tUI'D - British ex
perts readily admitted toduy that
the American-style passing dis
played hy Pete Dawluns in the
latest Oxford-Cambridge rugby
match may revolutionize the
sport.
Britons throw the oval-shaped
rugby football with two hands,
but Duwkins heaved the hall with
one hand in helping Oxford down
Cambridge. 9-3. Tuesday before
58,000 fans at Twickenham.
Although h earned All-America
honors at West Point as a great
ball-carrier, it was Dawkins'
unique passing skill that im
pressed his rivals, sports writers
and even his own teummntos.
, "Dawkins' fabulous efforts car
ried a lull 40 yards each, doail
straight," hymned the usually
conservative Dally' Telegraph
rugby writer.
"His Amcrican-slyle throw was
a secret weapon of the Oxford
side," announced . the Daily Kx
pres critic.
