I had a crush on this certain fellow for two years but he thought I was too proud for him. (He was a senior when I was a freshman.) Now he's in college and I'm 17 and he asked me to go to the college gather-all last Saturday night. I wanted to give him the idea I was real sophisti cated so I had three vodka mar tinis one right after the other. Well, I got sick right in his car and he had to take me home at 10 o'clock. He was very nice about every thing but I know he was disgust ed with me and I don't blame him a bit. Shall I phone him and apologize, write a letter or what? I'd give anything for another chance. Numskull. Dear Numbskull: Don't writ and don't phone. Wait until you see the boy in person then tell " him you are horribly ashamed of yourself. If he doesn't in vite you out again I wouldn't blame him. Nothing is so re- Church Circles Set Christmas Meetings Three circles of the First Pres byterian Church will meet this coming week for regular meetings at which time Christmas will be observed. Circle 4 will m?et on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Harry Karns, 1608 First Street, with Mrs. Jack Piper as co-hostess. Mrs. Piper will also be in charge of the program on Christian Living." Circles 2 and 3 will hold a joint potluck luncheon at the Manse on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Christmas program being planned by Miss Nell Mahaffey and Mrs Leila Haun. At the worship service on Sun day morning, the Rev. Louis M. Samson will speak on "What Is the Bible?" The choir will sing "Jesus, Lord of Heavenly Grace' by Whitney and for an offertory anthem "How Firm a founda tion." solo by Mrs. Harlow Speck hart. The session will held its regular monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Mon day, in the parlor, and Geneva Fellowship and Junior High Fel lowship will meet at their regular times on Thursday evening. The choir will practice at 7: 15 P.m. on Thursday and following or act ice will n.irtirioate in the Elks' Memorial Service and w sing the two anthems performed 1 at the Sundav mornins service. I hope this has taught you to stay off the joy juice for good. Dear Ann: I'm a bachelor, go ing with a woman for seven months. She has three children by a previous marriage. I admit I'm not accustomed to having children around. Her youngsters are fairly well behav ed, but at times they get on my nerves. Then, too, I wonder if, after marriage, she would put them ahead of me. I love this woman and I want to marry her but I'm not sure I can stand her children. Do you have any advice? Undecided. Dear Undecided: Yes. I ad vise you to find single girl or a childless widow. Your "not being accustomed to having children around" is only a part of the hazard. You'd constant ly be competing with the chil dren for you wife's affections and this would spell disaster. Dear Ann: I've always consid ered you a sensible person but the answer you gave the aunt who was responsible for the 16-ycar-old Tom Boy was downright toolish. Isn't a 16-year-old girl better off wrestling in the back yard in broad daylight with 13 and 14-year-old neighbor boys than with a 20-year-old hotshot in a parked car? Most young girls are either necking up a storm, sitting in front of a mirror making up their eyes, talking on the phone for hours, or wearing out rec ord players. Since when has physical exercise fallen into ill repute.' I was a Tom Boy and I'm nrnnH of U. It was an honor to be railed when a kite got caught in a tree, or when the fellas needed an ex tra "guy" for football. Id bet my life you don't have a caugnter or you d have answer. ed that problem differently. Mrs. 3. Dear Mrs. S. You've got a bum bet. My daughter is in col lege. If at 16 she was called to get a kite out of a tree or be the "extra fellow" on . foot ball team, I would have been mighty disturbed. Some girls mature later than others, physically ,nd ,mo. tionally, and this is nothing to become alarmed about. But a girl of 16 who Is piina n.r physical strength against 13 .nd 14-year old nighbor boys has an immature approach. Such a girl needs guidance so that she can feel at home with boys of 17 and 18 she should not be operating at the 12-year-old level. Pioneer Park. Church of God Cedar and Jefferson Harold W. And he will remind you that Jesus told His disciples they should expect to suffer for His sake. Christian love, - in Mennonite teaching, involves far more than avoiding any hurt to your neigh bor. It is a positive obligation to serve all men. to seek the good of others even at the sacrifice of your own legitimate interests. All members of the church are called upon to "practice lives of seif- deniul and fugality. to live sim ply rather than in luxury so that they will have the means as well as the will to feed the hun gry and clothe the naked. "Left Wing" Reformationists History has given Mcnnonites abundant opportunity to demon strate their readiness for suf fering and self-denial. The move ment originated in Zurich, Switz- t l.i id. in 153S, and quickly spread to The Netherlands. Historians have called it "the left wing of the Protestant reformation be cause its adherents went far be yond the followers of Luther and Uilvin in repudiating Catholic tra ditions and socking to return to the "original'' practices of the earliest Christians described in the New Testament. The first members were called "Anabaptists" because they re jected infant baptism and Insisted that only adult believers proper ly' could he baptized. The later term "Mennonite" came from Menno Simons, a former Catholic priest who became leader of the Dutch Anabaptists in 1536. Movement Almost Extinguished The Anabaptist-Mennonites have paid a heavy price for their radi calism. More than 5,000 of them were burned, drowned, beheaded or otherwise put to death during the first 10 years. The ruthless persecutions which they encount ered in both Protestant and Cath olic countries very nearly extin guished the movement. Many of the survivors migrated to nerth Germany and Prussia, where thev settled on wastelands that no one else wanted and brought them into fertile' production through their patient skill as farmers. In 1WI3, a group of Mennonites from central Europe found a ha ven of tolerance in Quaker Penn sylvania. Others soon followed. Within a few years there was a steady flow of Mennonite immi grants to free America. Today, nearly half of the world's 500,000 Mcnnonites live in the United States. Pennsylvania remains the main center of strength, but there also are Jarge groups in Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, Michigan and the Dakotas, and smaller bodies in nearly every slate.
