Schayes. who holda the all-time
NBA scoring record, tallied 32
points and Yardley poured in 21
Wednesday night at the Syracuse
Nationals romped over the Bos
ton Celtics, 138-103.
- In other games, Detroit whipped
Cincinnati, 110-93. and New York
edged Minneapolis, 106-105.
Syracuse, winning Its fifth
straight game, set an all-time
club field goal high of 58 baskets
and climbed to within three games
of the division-leading Celtics.

a game and a half behind Bos

Schayes scored seven of his 14
baskets in the opening period as
the Nationals surged to a 42-20
lead. The cloest the Celtics came
was an 11-point deficit midway in
the third period. Sam Jones, who
has blossomed into a high-scorine,
backcourt man, led Boston with

The I'istons handed Cincinnati
its seventh straight defeat as they
held Jack Twynian to only 15
points. The Royal scoring ace
fouled out early in the fourth
