Drill For Coming Convention

Harry Culeman recently re
ceived wind that his mother in
Kansas luid passed away. She
had fallen a few days before and
broken lur hip. Mrs. Coleman
was close to 90 years old.

Ethel Saling is still a patient at
the Grande Ronde Hospital
Ernestine Simonis and her new son
have gone home from the hospital,
also Lanora Dockweiller. Many
were reported iM at heme.

Laudenschlut;er at the Royal
Neighbor Home in Davnport.
Iowa, thanking the lodge for her
birthday gift and also telling of an
injury she suffered. Gifts were
sent to Mrs. Donald Lambert and
her new baby at Boise, Idaho, and
to Zelma Eld?r. who was injured

Mrs. Vic Tarter was given the
exemplcr Ritual, at the Xi Alpha
Mu meeting, Tuesday evening in
the home of Mrs. Joe Estes.
Mrs. Wayne Barton presided
over the business of the meeting.
She announced that the chapters
had decided to invite husbands
to the Founders Day banquet and
a dance would be held following.
The chapter also decided further
investigation should be made re
garding the remodeling of the Fair
booth.
An all chapter party was dis

and Mrs. Leland Sams, co-chairmen,
Mrs. Mark Cunningham and
Mrs. Robert Hufierman, assisting.
Mrs. Raymond W'endel, a leave

soon for Indonesia.
Mrs. Cunningham gave the pro
gram on "Cleopatra." Mrs. Earl
Thibeau was awarded the prize
for the game.

Birthday.
All jeveniles of the camp will
he entertained with a mask
"Hallow-en pa;ty in the basement
at the hall, from 6 p.m. till 7 :10.
Oct. 26. At a pin. the adults
will hold a "llnbo" parly with all
members asked to come in appro
priate costume. Each is to bring
a sack lunch (or an exchange of
sacks by number. Annette lloadley
and her team will be in charge of
this party. There will not be a
lodge meeting.

Conference Being
Held At Church
A Conference on Churchman
ship is being held in I -a Grande
today and tomorrow, in the First
Christian Church. Registration
began this morning at 10 a.m. with
i full day of activities planned
A banquet will be held this eve
ning at 6 p.m. with evening ses
sums to follow.
Fridays schedule will begin al
10 a m. and will include prayer
ipecial music, sneak previews,
panel discussion, sermon, and a
number of other items. Another
banquet will be held Friday eve
ning at 6 p.m. The Rev. Wallace
Hastings will be the tcastmaster,
and. Hartzcll Cobbs the guest
speaker.
The final workshop sessions
will be held that evening along
with other services.
Three guest leaders have been
secured to lead the workshops
in the present scries of confer
ences. They are Samuel F. I'ugh.

known in their area of work.
These sessions arc for anyone
interested, and chairmen, com

Rites Set Friday
Mrs. Chretta May Wnrnstalf. HI,
of lit. 2, La Grunde, died Wed
nesday following a short illness,
in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held
in the Daniels Funeral Home Fri
day at 2 p.m. The Rev. Harold j
Seal will officiate. Burial to be!
in the Island City cemetery.
Mrs. Warnstaff was born in
Ohio, Nov., 5, 1877, and had been
a resident of I, a Grande for the I
past 20 years. She was a member
;if the First Presbyterian Church. ;
Survivors are one son, Clive .
Warnstaff, La Grande; two daugh
ters, Mrs. Verla Snyder. Kearney.
Neb., and Mrs. Vivian Igo of La

children, five great grandchildren
