D., are parents of a baby girl, born Sunday. They have named her Debra Ann and she weighs seven pounds. Mrs. Dodge is the former Geri Rose Nice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Nice. Mr. and Mrs. George Issac from the cgast, camped out in the North Powder vicinity to hunt. While here they visited Issac's cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Isaac and family. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Isaac. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Records, and Mr. and Mrs. Jake Flower, camped out near Huntington, Friday and Saturday, where they hunted deer. Mr. and Mrs. Re coras are from Milton Freewater, and she is the daughter of the Isaacs. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Eibby of Bates visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry McClure and family. a Hastt Birthday Dinner Mrs. Leonard Henderson was hostess to a birthday dinner in Sheila Haggerty Will Have Lead In College Play . COVE (Special) Sheila Hag gerty, of Cove, has been selected for the leading feminine rele in the fall play at Oregon State Col lege, according to the college Daily Barometer. The play is Ag atha Christie's best seller. "Wit ness for the Prosecution," and Sheila will play the title role. The production is slated for Nov. 5, 6, and 7 in the College Playhouse, and is under the dir ection of Professor Everett Cart right. Following the dinner James at tended the high school party and dance. Powder Valley High School held a dance for the FFA boys and the football players. Girls furnished the refreshments for the boys. Following the dance the girls held a slumber party at me nome ol Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Griffith. Those attend: ing the party were Kay and Sher ry Griffit. Sharon Bates. Mina Geils, Judy Isaac. Leona Young, Karen Arnoldus, Donna Fordice Kay Flower, Jan peters, Wanda Pratt, Ula Mae. Teflt, Jeannie Hudeson, and Kathy Nave. Mrs. Gordon Griffith and Mrs. Bern ard Monaghan were the chaper ones. Wednesday evening the 4-H leader from Powder entertained the 4 H leaders of l'nion County They met at the schoolhouse. PTA Will Meet At the next PTA meeting. Oct 21. the 4 H members of both Uni on and Baker Counties will meet at the Powder Valley schoolhouse. There they will each show their exhibits. The Rev. Austin Cribbin of La Grande, who is the pastor of the North Powder Catholic Church, is being transferred soon to Lake- view. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Henderson took their son, Dean, to Port land where he was to receive medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Gorham of La Grande visited Monday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs Arthur Gorham. Mrs. Bill Nice returned to her home Friday, after receiving an eye examination at Portland. Aqua, Ivory, Black or White, sizes 32-40 average; Ivory, Black or White also "Correct World Affairs Group To Meet World Affairs group will hold a meeting in the Neighborhood Club house, Tuesday at 2 p.m. The subject will be the visit of Khrushchev and its effects. This meeting is open to any women interested in the subject, and will be in the form of a round table discussion. Each person attending is invited to bring any material pertaining to this topic. If sufficient interest is shown in these meetings, they will be held once a month, on the third Tuesdays. Art Guild Names New Committees The l'nion County Art Guild held a meeting, Wednesday evening, at which committees were named and plans were made lor the year. Some projects of interest to people of this region Ere an exhibit of work done by members of the Art Guild, and exchange exhibits from neighboring communities which have art organizations. The purpose of the gui'd is to encourage art activities in the community and productive work on the part of its members. It is affiliated with the Oregon Art Alliance. Last year they sent a number of entries to the Art Alliance show at Eugene. As a result of this ex hibit, Dr. George Nightingale will have a one man show of ci ramie sculpture at the University of Ore gon this fall. In the spring the guild helped with a tea for visit ing artists. During the summer they held field trips for outdoor sketching, and a pot luck picnic at the Jarnigan cabin near Catherine Creek. They also take charge of the art exhibit at the Union County Fair in the fall. After the business meeting the group visited the current exhibit in the basement of the college li brary. It was decided to meet the first Wednesday of each month.
