TIN30 GOWDY NORVAL 1.49 up HOBBY SHOP 1113 Adams Sinatra Chases Motorist After Convertible Hit HOLLYWOOD (VPI) - Frank Sinatra chased a motorist at speeds up to 60 miles an hour Thursday night alter his $11,000 foreign make convertible was dented in a minor collision. The actor-singer broadcast pleas for help over his radio-telephone as he pursued a car driven by James Donald Kykendahl after the accident near the Beverly Hills Hotel. Kykendahl. of West Los Angeles told police he thought Sinatra was a holdup man. Kykendahl, wildly blowing his car horn, drove up to the West Los Angeles police station with his passenger. Bever ly Stunden. Santa Monica. Sat. K. D. Bowers of the Bever ly Hills police department said Sinatra told him Kykenrfahl backed into his 1959 dual Ghia convertible and then, when the singer stepped out, nearly ran ov er him speeding away. Sinatra took up the chase but decided it was best to go to the police. At first he demanded that Kykendahl be arrested, but later he said to "forget the whole thing." and no citation was issued. Mrs. Hugh Dougherty Hears Of Aunt's Death In uerroir WALLOWA i Special i Mrs. Huh Dougherty has received word of he death of her aunt, Mrs. Christ Amundson. 83. in Detroit. Mich. One son survives her. Ten yi'ars ago Mrs. Dougherty visited Mrs. Amundson in Detroit. The Parent-Teacher Association of Wallowa recently met under the auspices of the Christian Soc ial Commission of the Methodist Church. Dr. Bernard Pabst of Jose ph spoke on the subject of educa tion for retarded children. Mothers of seventh grade children served refreshments. Word was received here of the death of Myron Hayes in San Francisco last Sunday. He was a longshoreman. He was a victim of heart disease. The funeral was held at San Bruno Military Cemetary on the Presidio. He was a veteran ol World War I. Mr. Hayes was 65 years of ogv and was born in Island City. Sur viving are four brothers and two sisters, Eugene, Hugh and Donald of Wallowa; Charles of San Fran cisco; Mrs. Jennie Conklin of Wal lowa, and Mrs. Eva Trump of Spokane. Among visitors to La Grande recently were Mrs. Bill Dougherty and Mrs. John Walker. O.E.S. Meeting ' The Eastern-Central Association O.E.S. held a recent meeting at Joseph. The session opened with a pot luck dinner. Mr. and Mk. Hu bert Johnson, Mr. arid' Mrs. J. R. Davidson, Mrs. Jess Lam bert and Mrs- Harry .William son attended from Wallowa. Mrs. Mildred McKinl'.y of Joseph presided. Mrs. Celeste Dickin son, Worthy Grand Matron and Ron Gilson, Worthy Grand Pat ron of the Grand chapter of Ore gon were present. Mrs. Pearl Mc Clay La Grande, past worthy grand matron, also attended. Visiting Mrs. Clay Boyd Mon day were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Henry of La Grande. (UPI Bert Benedict was sentenced to six months in the county work house Wednesday for forging checks against his wife's account. Walter Stringhams Of Elgin Visit Salt Lake Relatives ELGIN (Special i Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stringham left Sunday to take their daughter, Mrs. Russell Peterson, and daughter, Lari to their home in Salt Lake City. While there they will visit their other daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wight and children. Mrs. Mildred Harwood is working in the City Drug Store while he is away. Mrs. Claude Follett and two daughters left by train Thursday for Summerville, Mo., to spend a month at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Duncan, formerly of Elgin. Mrs. Lyle Kelly and children of Spokane spent the weekend in El gin with her husband. , From Georgia Mrs. Hubert Williams, Sterling. Ga.. and Curtis arrived Friday evening to spend the weekend w ith Mr. Williams. They return to Port land Sunday. Glenn Standly of Salem, arrived Friday evening for a weekend of hunting. He is formerly of Elgin. Elgin school children had a vaca tion last Monday w hile the teachers attended the teachers institute and workshop in Pendleton. Elgin boys and many girls took advantage of the holiday to go deer hunting. Many were success ful. Social Club Meelt The Blue Mountain Social Club met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Fred Davis. Mrs. Pauline Terry, president presided over the business meeting. Plans were made for the annual bazaar with the date set lor Dec. ath. Committees were appointed. Mrs.Sjatricia Culver and Mrs. Phyllis Anson are co-chairman of f.e affair.
