Missionary Meeting A missionary' meeting was held recently at the Assembly of God Church. Rev. Leo Gilman. of Ft. Apachp. Ariz., conducted th? meet ing. Mrs. Gi'man was also present. They are doing missionary work with the Apache Indians in Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Campbell re turned home last Thursday alter spending a week in Seattle, visiting relatives. They visited Camp bells sister and brother in-law. Mr. and Mrs. John Perry, and his brother, Bert Campbell, and family. Mrs. Ruth Houtz and daughter Carol of Burns spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Houtz. Carol Is entering E.O.C. as a freshman this fall. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Conklin and son David of Monmouth spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. John McKinnis. David is entering E.O.C. as a freshman. Conklin and Mrs. McKinnis are brother and sister. Sift together 2'4 cup sifted Pillsbury's best ell purpose flcur, 1 teespoon sett, 1 teespoon sode and Vi teaspoon double acting baking powder. Set eside. Add I cup sugar end V cup firmly pecked brown sugar gradually to Vi cup shortening, creeming well. Blend in 3 unbeaten eggs, 1 et a time, beating well after each. Bend in muted butterscotch morsel mix well. Add the dry ingredient elternately with 1 cup buttermilk or sour milk, beginning end ending with dry ingredient. Blend thoroughly efter each addition. (With elec tric mixer use a low speed.) Turn into 2 9-inch round leyer pan, well greesed end lightly floured on the bottom. Bake et 375 degree for 25 to 30 min ute until cake springs beck when touched lightly in center. Cool-spread filling between lay ers and on top ?c within Vi inch of edge. Frost sides and top edge with teefoem frosting or whipped cream. Butterscotch Filling Combine Vi cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cornsterch in 2-quart seuce pen. Stir in Vj cup evet orated milk, Vs cup weter, Vi cup butterscotch morsels end 1 1ton egg yelk. Cook over meVi ium heet, stirring constantly, until thick. Remove from heet edd 2 teblespoons butter, V cup coconut, chopped; end 1 cup pec ens or welnuts, chopped. Cool. . Seefoem Frosting Combine In sauce pen Vs cup sugar, Vi cupr firmly pecked brown sugar, VS cup weter end 1 tablespoon corn syrup. Cook until a little syrup dropped in cold water forme' a soft' bell (236 degree fehrenheit). Mean while, beet 1 egg white with IVi teespooif creem of tartar until stiff peeks form. Add syrup to egg white in' slow, steady stream, besting constantly until thick enough to tpreed.
