Hamblin, 1706 First street, attended the 37th convention of the Brother hood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemeh in St. Paul, Minn. Here Hamblin examines the safety trophy '9 which was inaugurated to promote safety and honor locomotive firemen for their skill in preventing rail accidents and saving lives. , ' Wallowa Man In Hospital Dr. Hockett, accompanied by Vtrdo Baird who administered oxygon, took William Barklow to the Wal'owa Hospital Tuesday eve ning. First Wheat In The first wheat brought into the warehouse in Wal'owa was by Tom Willctt and Darrell Gilsinger. with Bob Peterson next. The yield is average, about 35 bushels per acre. The prospects are for 8n average crop in wheat. The first barley was brought in by Holmes Bros. It was winter barley and the yield was about average, but the pros pects are for a below average crop this year. Mrs. Ray Vance and son Kenton left Wednesday for her home in Burns, after a week here visiting her mother, Mrs. Trell Coleman. Mrs. Bert KronmiPer and three sons and Mrs. Louis Larm and two sons spent Tuesday at Wallowa lake picnicking and the boys play ed in the lake. Rev. Individual gains of a point or more dotted the main list with some of the best gains appear ing in issues outside the group used to compile the averages. Dul'ont was up around 3 at its high. Most other chemical stocks were firm on balance. Good gainers included Amcri Universal Match. Among the nonferrous metals, a number of the copper stocks rang up gains of around a point or more, including Anaconda, C'erro de Pasco, Magma, and Phelps Dodge. Reynolds Metals was strong in the aluminum group. Motor stocks were mixed. Steels were firm on balance. Leading oils moved within a nar row range with the exception of Continental, which lost around a point. Kaiiroaa stocks were firm on balance. Aircraft were mixed along with tires. Goodrich lost 2 in the latter group.
