The board's building committee authorized the architect's to spend about $9.0(10 to build ' small-scale model of the proposed . building and conduct stress tests at Oregon Slate college. f It was estimated that the tests would permit reduction in the amount of strucural steel used in the building and result in a sav ing of up to $50,000. A spokesman for the architects, . Lawrence, Tucker and Wallman, , said this type of construction was ilevcloped in Europe and the ' building at- the University of Ore gon would be the first of its kind .built in the U. S. Farm Prices Move Up During Month Oregon farm prices were a mix ture of ups and downs in May but averaged 1 per cent above May 1958, reports Mrs. Elvera Horrell, Oregon State College extension agriculture economist. In contrast to the Oregon trend. national farm prices are still 4 per cent below a y?nr ago. Prices in Oregon for poultry and dairy products continued to s'ip. Hogs, calves, and hay prices were also lower. On the uptrend, how ever, were prices for potatoes, wheat,- corn, beef cattle, lambs, and wool, the economist noted. - - PARATROOPER DIES FT. - CAMPBELL, Ky. UPI A Laconia. N.H., paratrooper died here Monday of injuries received while making his fifth and final qualifying , parachute jump. Pfc. Robert L. Andrews, 19, suffered head injuries in the jump last week.
